More on the Russian "meat wave" assaults. Russia continues to use parades of small groups of sacrificial troops to march toward enemy positions to get them to fire and give away their position.

Based on this issue alone, I would find it hard to believe that Russia's military does not have a casualty rate several times higher than Ukraine's military has. Add in the fact that Ukraine is on defense and Russia is trying to gain ground, and the numbers may be even worse.

Ukraine calls them meat assaults: Russia's brutal plan to take ground

A war analyst has decided that Russia blew its best opportunity to win the war, during the U.S.-republican-led treason that halted weapons shipments to Ukraine for several months. Had Russia committed to an all-out offensive against a nation that was running out of ammunition, they likely would have steamrolled Ukraine. Putin's cowardice (and ignorance of all things military) may have ruined his best chance of winning the war. Even the Australians can see it from Down Under.

Not surprisingly, pro-Putin clowns have praised him for planning a slow and methodical approach to winning the war a few meters at a time.

Russia missed probably its best opportunity to steamroll Ukraine, war analyst argues

I’m surprised the Russian populace doesn’t push back on this, at all. I underestimated the effectiveness of putins propaganda.

Putin is losing ground to his "friend" Chairman Xi in the area of influence with the "stan" countries, thanks to the war in Ukraine. Trade between China and the Central Asian countries grew by 27% last year.

Russia's frenemy China is quietly trying to dampen Putin's influence

You need to remember that they don’t have the same access to information that you do. Putin has done a lot, much of which is covered in this thread, to keep the pain of the war away from Moscow and St. Petersburg, the main centers of population and the historical sources of popular uprising in Russia. Putin is not the strategic genius we all thought he was before 2022, but he does know his Russian history.

Some people do the right thing because it's the right thing to do...you know, helping an innocent country who was invaded, its cities leveled, civilians slaughtered, women raped and children kidnapped. Others approach it from a "what's in it for me?" angle. We all get it and no one is particularly surprised.

    On a lighter note …

Are we on the verge of an apocalyptic global war in which billions of people could die? Very few people anticipated that World War I would erupt, but it happened anyway. And very few people anticipated that World War II would erupt, but it happened anyway. All throughout human history, there have been wars. Ever since the very beginning, it has just been a matter of time before major powers collide. Unfortunately, even though very alarming warning signals are flashing all around us, most of the population of the western world seems absolutely clueless about what is really going on out there. Leaders all over the planet seem to have come down with a really bad case of “war fever”, and preparations for apocalyptic showdowns are being made.

Nothing has changed. FDR had Americans believing that Germany was going to invade the U.S. and subjugate Americans …

Ukrainian (?) guerilla groups blow up railroad used to transport munitions to Russia.
    Go team..

Guerrillas halt North Korean ammunition trains near Russia's Yekaterinburg (msn.com)

The guerrillas managed to conduct a successful operation on the Trans-Siberian Railway near Yekaterinburg. As a result, they blew up a railroad track that was used to deliver North Korean ammunition, according to the ATESH resistance movement.

According to the resistance movement, only after receiving a command from the regional department of the FSB, the repair team was allowed to arrive at the site and begin restoration work.

"And we want to remind you once again that the railroad will explode even more often as long as ammunition is being transported along it," the agents emphasize.

Russia drops from top ten largest economies worldwide

Amidst a decline in the ruble’s value, Russia has fallen out of the top ten largest economies globally, slipping from 8th to 11th place, according to a World Bank report released on July 4, with Italy, Brazil, and Canada surpassing its growth rates last year.
