I think they will, seems like both France and Germany are sending signals they will. They can't let Russia advance indefinitely. Ukraine is barely holding on right now, and at any time the floodgates could open. NATO is IMO preparing for that possibility and is prepared to set a red line somewhere, perhaps in Western Ukraine.

agreed, they need to draft more. Many Ukranians are waiting on others to win the fight for them and the ones that are fighting aren't getting the support they need, or at least they haven't been. Perhaps this is the reason Macron was willing to send French troops to do the back of house stuff that is keeping some ukranian soldiers off of the lines

I still loathe that we are failing to lead on this issue. The President has a great deal of authority to put Russia under increasing military pressure, but we just wait to see what our smaller, weaker allies will do. I go right back to the first step I suggested when this started: throw that milquetoast geek Jake Sullivan out on his ass and bring in a proper wartime consigliere.

Russian Commander in Crimea Killed in Ukraine Attack: Reports (msn.com)

A Russian commander was reportedly killed in Crimea following a Ukrainian missile strike in the region. On Monday, the Russian independent outlet Astra said on its Telegram channel that a Russian air defense base located near Mount Ai-Petri in Crimea was hit with "an early morning missile attack" by Ukrainian forces.

"The commander of the military unit was killed," Astra reported. "On the mountain, there is a 'secret' military air defense base of the 3rd radio technical regiment of the Russian Armed Forces."

The outlet identified the Russian military commander as Alexander Kulakov. Another Russian soldier was also killed in the missile strike, and others were injured, it said.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Ukrainian military blogger Igor Sushko said, "Several Ukrainian missiles struck a strategic Russian air defense radar base of the military unit 85683 on the Ai-Petri mountain in the south of Crimea. Commander of military unit reportedly killed. Strikes occurred at around 6am on May 13, 2024."

Russia to face difficulties in sustaining offensive after ammo depot explosion in Luhansk Oblast – Lysohor

"The invaders thought that this depot was quite safe, because it was located almost on the border with Russia, about 130 km to the frontline,” he wrote.

“But it exploded there too. Now the Russian military in the area has a limited supply of ammunition, which should soon affect their offensive actions."

Apparently, Russia is just getting started, from CNN …

And then overnight, Deep State Map, a Ukrainian military analysis group, said the southern village of Verbove was under greater threat – one of the minimal gains from Kyiv’s stymied summer counteroffensive last year. All across the board, the news is bad: it is a growing calamity.

An army and a nation nearing their end …

Like most Ukrainian officials and military experts, General Budanov said he believes the Russian attacks in the northeast are intended to stretch Ukraine’s already thin reserves of soldiers and divert them from fighting elsewhere.

That is exactly what is happening now, he acknowledged. He said the Ukrainian army was trying to redirect troops from other front line areas to shore up its defenses in the northeast, but that it had been difficult to find the personnel.

“All of our forces are either here or in Chasiv Yar,” he said, referring to a Ukrainian stronghold about 120 miles farther south that Russian troops have assaulted in recent weeks. “I’ve used everything we have. Unfortunately, we don’t have anyone else in the reserves.”

NATO's plan to split Russia into 18-32 different countries (per Swiss geopolitical analyst Jacques Baud) seems to have hit a snag.

Putin: "We wanted to be your friend. Why was it necessary to make us your enemy?"

Russia's military is stronger today then when the war started imo. Their debt to GDP is a small fraction of America's.

Did Russia make enough off higher energy price (caused by the conflict) to pay for the war?

Why did Biden and Boris Johnson oppose the ceasefire that Zelensky and Putin were ready to sign on April 1, 2022?

Ukrainian partisans strike back: Heavy losses and sabotage in Crimea (msn.com)

In Crimea's occupied region, Ukrainian partisans have reported a notable count of injured or deceased Russian soldiers. Simultaneously, the Atesh resistance movement has disclosed the identification of a convoy transporting substantial military equipment. They confidently claim knowledge of the equipment's storage location, boldly asserting that its presence will soon be eradicated.

Furthermore, in the occupied territory of Dzhankoy, partisans observed a train carrying BM-21 Grad multiple launch rocket systems en route to the Kherson region.

Atesh has noted a rapid and substantial depletion in military equipment reserves, claiming to be actively working towards increasing Russian casualties, inadvertently aided by Russian soldiers themselves.

three migs in a week. Making it easier for the f-16's. Can't imagine that the talent level or equipment level of the russian air force is getting any better with these losses.

Ukraine downs third Russian Su-25 in a week, signaling a strategic shift (msn.com)

The Ukrainian army has reported the downing of another Russian Su-25 aircraft in the Donetsk region, marking the third such incident this week. This underscores the continued efforts and capabilities of Ukrainian forces against ground support aircraft utilized by Russia. To date, Russia's aircraft losses are believed to be around 350 units. There has been a steady stream of reports from Ukraine detailing the destruction of these assets. Recently, as detailed by the Ukrainian news agency Unian, another Su-25 was brought down, echoing the successes of the preceding days.

According to military analyst Oleksij Hetman, the Russian Federation Army's fleet of Su-25 aircraft stands at just under 200. This figure is on a downward trend, a testament to the ongoing targeting of these aircraft. The Su-25, developed for ground attack operations and front-line support, is not known for high performance, especially compared to air superiority fighters.

This renders the Su-25 a valuable asset for Ukraine, aiding ground troops from the air and a viable target. With a maximum altitude of approximately 23,000 feet and a speed under 590 mph, the Su-25 is significantly easier to intercept than the more agile and faster supersonic fighters.

Discussions online imply that the Ukrainian strategy of eliminating Su-25s might be part of a larger plan to incorporate F-16s into their military assets. However, it's essential to recognize the differences between these aircraft types, as the Su-25 does not directly compare with the F-16 in aerial capabilities.

Brought to you by the same sources that reported that Russia had earlier launched a Ukrainian rock, from Ukrainian-controlled territory, to kill ethnic-Russians friendly to Russia in the Donbas.
