Putin was ready to withdraw from Ukraine in March 2022. Unfortunately the Biden administration wanted war. US and NATO lies and broken agreements have convinced Russia that the West can't be trusted. TThe US and NATO want to extend this easily avoided war so Putin has said it will be decided on the battlefield. The Crocus terrorist attack and other attacks inside Russia have motivated Russian leaders to end the war quickly. Ukraine will surrender and much of its natural resources will belong to Russia.
Interesting image. Apologize that post before. I don't want to post the tweet because it has profanity in it.
Ms. Betty Bowers is hilarious. Sometimes it difficult to get her humor because it’s so close to what MAGAts say.
Ukrainians were surveyed in December 2021: 17% favored armed resistance if Russia entered Ukraine. 33% favored unarmed civil resistance . 50% wanted nd resistance if Russia invaded. The Biden administration and the Deep State wanted war to help Democrats in the 2022 midterms and so every Democrat at Too Hot supported war, or so I gather. If Democrats had a leg to stand on they would resist this post. But they have nothing.
She wants the war to stop. You want the war to continue. Who cares more about the Ukrainians? Hell, who cares more about Americans ?
I would have had MTG hold three flags: Abandon Freedom, Abandon Democracy, and Abandon Ukraine. You don't want to make Trumpers figure that out, so you better spell it out for them.
A lot of Poland's troops were on horseback, barely ready to fight WWI, much less WWII. Ukraine was a little more advanced than Poland. The comparison has little to do with the time frame or level of success of the invasion; it has more to do with the naked aggression and barbaric brutality without a valid reason. Putin is engaging in empire-building (just like Hitler was), not self defense or even providing security for themselves. The barrier would not be so precious to Putin (or the ill-educated Trumpers) if he (they) would pause and ask how many countries has NATO invaded without a valid reason. NATO has been an extremely peaceful organization, and has been little threat to Russia, as long as Russia chooses peace instead of war. So, yes, we will continue the valid comparison of Putin and Hitler. #illiterateexcusemakers
Of course Putin wouldn't directly attack a NATO country and waltz right in with his armies. He would first try to get citizens of a neighboring country to elect pro-Russian candidates by flooding the country with propaganda and a combination of subtle threats for non-cooperation and rewards for cooperation. That basically happened in Hungary. If that didn't work, then he would consider violence. He would wait for the right moment, when a neighbor was weakest (economies were bad, etc.), send in Russian citizens with weapons (read: thugs) to cause trouble, and watch as the Russians get arrested, abused, or even killed. And then he would send in troops to "rescue" them. That is basically what he did with Ukraine, except he added a little story about Nazis being in Ukraine. He would pick his countries carefully, and pick his timing carefully, to make sure that the other countries are unlikely to respond militarily. Then he would "retreat" with his military, after setting up a new government that got its marching orders from Moscow. A lot depends on how long it will take countries like Germany and England to fall asleep again and forget the red menace to the east.
“Russian leader Vladimir Putin has been intensifying his rhetoric against the Baltic states, setting the stage for potential "future escalations" with the eastern NATO members, the Institute for Study of War said on Tuesday.” Putin's talk sets the stage for 'future escalations' with Baltics: ISW
Turn the tables. If Russia were fn around in Mexico or Canada (like the Soviets in Cuba in the 60's), I'd be right there with yall. We're fn around in Ukraine. I'm just not persuaded by your self righteousness here. We have real problems within our own borders. Your Russian boogeyman man is a childhood clown nightmare. It's. Not. Real.
Death ray weapon: UK’s DragonFire to take out Russian drones in Ukraine (msn.com) The UK could become the first country to use a laser weapon in a real war. They plan to deploy a laser-directed energy weapon (LDEW) named DragonFire in Ukraine to shoot down Russian drones. DragonFire is a highly powerful British military laser that can shoot down aerial threats. It is currently under development. In January 2024, the UK military conducted its first successful test during which the laser successfully took down an aerial target. ......................... “I’ve taken the opportunity to arrange additional conversations with colleagues about whether we could speed it up even faster, very much using the integrated procurement model of saying there’s a war on,” Shapps said. Let’s say that it didn’t have to be 100% perfect in order for Ukrainians perhaps to get their hands on it, can we do any better – but 2027 is still the date as of this moment. But of course, I’ll look to see what we can do to speed up,” he added.
Ukraine holding big bad Russia at bay with drones and army navy surplus crap... Somehow = EVERYBODY SHIT YOUR BRITCHES STAT!!!! RUSSIA'S FIX'N TO PLOW THROUGH EUROPE, CROSS THE ATLANTIC, AND INVADE THE EASTERN SEABOARD!!!! Do yall even hear yourselves???
Not needs. Simply desires, and they tip their hand that they know damn well that Russia does not pose an existential threat to actual NATO members.
I’m not sure anyone is really saying that. Speaking for self, I think the main principle (there are others, of course) at stake is not allowing conquest to become normalized again. I assure you that if you don’t like the current world order, then you’re really going to dislike the one where everyone starts playing ye olde game of “That used to be mine, and I want it back!” I see an opportunity to strangle this thing in its crib now before it grows strength. Of course, I support escalation management. I want WWIII no more than you do. But Russia has to be made to fail, and the whole world has to see Russia fail. Both the extreme left and extreme right have made terrible mistakes for unrelated and less important goals that have kept Russia in this thing longer than it should have been. I truly hope we get our stuff together, take advantage of the time Ukraine has given us, and start a deliberate, managed increase in military pressure that convinces Russia it can’t meet its military objectives by force. But I have serious doubts that we will.
Sure... because a fractured Russia comprised of 100+ nuclear armed sovereign powers isn't the least bit disturbing... We can work with Russia. They're our bitch. Turn Russia into a tribal middle east, and...well, you've seen our middle east record. It's not very promising.
Again, I remind: no one has threatened the NATO wall. The NATO wall advancing OTOH, appears to have at least been perceived as a threat. And again....if Russia were making overtures vis a vis Mexico or Canada....I'd be pissed right along with yall. Russia assuming an aggressive defensive posture, simply makes sense. ...way more so even than planting nukes in Cuba to leverage removing our nukes, from Turkey, which was a similar distance to DC as Turkey to Moscow. Sorry Volodi....you shoulda chose peace over war. Doh! Biden simply ain't no Jack Kennedy. Cest la vie.
Never said I wanted that either. Is it one or the other? Or is there a wide spectrum of outcomes with an independent and intact Ukraine and without a second Russian Civil War?
See, I don’t think it’s much of a cognitive leap from what you’re arguing to next go, “Yeah, well, are the Baltics really NATO countries? We ‘acquired’ them when Russia was weak. They have large Russian populations. Russia has a strong historical argument. They are difficult as [insert favorite interjection] to defend. And Russia doesn’t like it.” Those are all facts. You say that’s where you draw the line. Okay, I’m not convinced you won’t move the line again when Russia gets to it. In my opinion, Russia crossed the line when it invaded Ukraine. And my line isn’t moving.
