Anyone who would believe (or rather profess to believe) the Nazi narrative would buy anything the Russians are selling. I’m fascinated to hear the mental-gymnastics it would take to explain how the Russian Army was already conveniently positioned in Belarus with live munitions, poised to march on Kyiv, when they “learned” the Ukrainian Army was getting ready to launch an offensive (against rebels on its own territory) and spoiled the Ukrainian attack at just the right moment. I’d also be fascinated to hear the Russian narrative of why it took them two years to come up with this story, and why they were caught staging fake Ukrainian atrocities (before switching to the ad hoc Nazi narrative) instead of just letting real Ukrainian atrocities play out.

Ukrainian atrocities were more than sufficient as a casus belli.

Ukrainians in the occupied territories willingly participated in Russia's presidential elections. All the Russian soldiers had to do was point their guns at them and say "time to vote". The Ukrainians did not even ask if the guns were loaded or if the soldiers knew how to use them.

Ukrainians in occupied territory were rounded up at gunpoint to vote in Putin's election, reports say

I like all of the allegations of Ukraine blasting away in the Donbas that nobody heard about prior to the invasion (and Putin did not even mention it at the outset of the war). Why would Putin have to come up with a ridiculous excuse like Nazis in Ukraine, when he had a legitimate reason right at his fingertips? It's almost like he made up the Ukraine "blasting with artillery" excuse much later.

It is what it is, but it doesn’t change the fact that the West stirs its own propaganda (ie Russia are not the only ones guilty of it) and Putin is not going to budge on Ukraine. And I mean don’t be so naive as to believe Zelenskyy or his people are that badly misinformed they didn’t know Ukrainian divisions fought with the Nazis and the ones who did might be in their upper 90s right about now. It doesn’t exactly take a genius to figure that out, especially when your land was ground zero for WW2 and these people are known as heroes in your country. That seems about as rich as the Donbas shelling narrative.

It has to gall the Dubya types on this board that there are countries which actually trust and admire its leaders …

Dubya types on this board would wake up angry, every morning, if China proclaimed its goal of seeing our government ousted and our country weakened.

A little over 12% of Russians voted for candidates other than Putin. Dollars to donuts a goodly percentage of those were angry at Putin for not going hard enough in Ukraine.

So you understand that Putin is lying, but you choose to believe his lies anyway?

The western media (or western leaders) will often highlight some information and not mention other information for whatever purpose, or re-tell someone else's unverified stories (you can't always verify the accuracy of something happening on a battlefield), but there is typically an attempt to be truthful. Not like Russia telling fantasy stories made up from thin air. If you're not smart enough to tell the difference, I feel sorry for you.

What does Ukrainians who fought for Nazi Germany have to do with the current conflict? Do you think the 98-year-olds are out killing innocent people? By the way, groups of people from a LOT of countries fought with the Nazis in WWII. The Dutch had a significant group that were convinced that, as bad as the Nazis were, the Russian communists were even worse, so they volunteered to fight with the Nazis. Germany put captured Polish people in bunkers at Normandy and had them shoot at western troops coming ashore under threat of death. So a lot of people were as confused as you currently are (or seem to be), and sided with the wrong country in the conflict.

There is some additional information about Ukrainians who fought with the Nazis against Russia, however. Russia had occupied Ukraine and taken away the majority of their crops to feed themselves with, causing MILLIONS of Ukrainians to starve to death. That's right--Russia conducted a genocide in the 1930's and caused 4 million Ukrainians to die. Almost as bad as the six million Jews that Germany killed. Why don't you educate yourself.

Western-approved pollsters consistently found Putin had 75%°- 85% approval. In the recent election Vlad got 87.28% of the vote.

The US started the Ukraine war to degrade Russia economically and politically and get Putin ousted. Instead the West has degraded itself. and Putin is as strong as ever. High energy prices are financing Russia's war. Russia is getting huge amounts of gas and mineral deposits, including rare earth minerals. Ukraine was called the "Breadbasket of Europe. Now the rich agricultural land in the East is going to Russia. The West sanctioned itself and is in decline. The global south is strengthening ties to Russia and China, which are now aligned.

Some of the same people that caused this disaster are paying illegals to come and degrade America. And they they think those who didn't want war and want secure borders are "traitors." .

Hilarious. I noticed a few things:

    1) Gonzo needs to smoke cigarettes before telling lies and spreading propaganda.

    2) Gonzo thinks the relevant history of Ukraine starts in 1990. Apparently everything was fine before the USSR broke up. Ukraine liked being under the thumb of the Soviet Union.

    3) Gonzo believes that it is critical to "take a man at his word", and not to think critically about what he says, or question his motivations, even if he is a known liar like Vladimir Putin.

    4) Gonzo believes that Putin, who worships at the altar of Joseph Stalin, is a soft-hearted guy who worries about Russians in other countries. (He's a humanitarian, when he's not ordering the poisoning of his political opponents and giving oligarchs the balcony treatment.) He worries about whether they are getting enough vegetables to eat and things like that. It must be hard to say that with a straight face.

    5) Gonzo believes that Putin has no imperial ambitions because Russia has plenty of land and natural resources. He apparently doesn't see any value in owning $12 trillion in minerals or owning the world's breadbasket and potentially holding all starving countries hostage until he gets what he wants. He's just a peace-loving hippie who wants Russians everywhere to be happy. Hilarious. (BTW, what do you think he's smoking to believe all that crap?)

Also, is Lira his last name (similar to "Eddie Money"), or the currency that he prefers the Kremlin to pay him in?
