Careful, he gets a bonus for causing people to make comments like that. His handlers don't understand western sarcasm. He's going to be eating borscht with real meat and potatoes tonight.

I thought he was a bad-guy character in a Tom Clancy novel. He sounds even worse with your description. :)

No, that was Bob Ritter. And he was only a bad guy in the movie Clear and Present Danger. In the novels, he was not a particularly awful human for a career intelligence officer.

F-16's scheduled to go into combat in Ukraine in July (a half dozen of them, anyway). Russians may want to hurry to get this war over with before then. Time for a desperate charge of the light brigade (times 10,000), to find out how many bullets that Ukraine really has.

Ukraine ready to deploy F-16 fighter jets ‘as soon as July’

Also from the above article, Ukraine is now shooting down Russian drones with $40k Cold War-era missiles instead of much more expensive modern missiles. This is due to the use of the U.S. APKWS system, which adds fins and laser guidance to the old missiles and makes them more accurate. They use the U.S.-supplied VAMPIRE launch pad system as well.

Pope calls for Zelenskyy to wave the white flag of surrender, and Moscow's foreign ministry immediately interprets it as that the West should "put aside its ambitions and admit that it was wrong." (Also from the above article.) Hilarious.

I would imagine that Ukraine's response is to tell the pope where he can put that suggestion.

It makes me physically ill to realize that half of Congress is sticking their fingers in their ears and claiming that this war is irrelevant to the U.S. Pure ignorance and jackassery of the highest order.

Russia's bribery and bullying of smaller nations pays off: the U.N. just gave Russia ownership of most of the Arctic Ocean seabed, including the North Pole.

The new Cold War has arrived, and it's colder than ever! Seriously, it's freezing cold. On the downside, Russia plans to cancel Christmas after it turns the elves and reindeer into sausage. Happy, republicans?!!!

The US should stand firm in the Arctic, as Russia lays claim to own the North Pole

Here:s the video Oeant to post for chemgstor. Russia did not initiate the conflict in Georgia, Putin won't invade the Balkans. No evidence Putin killed any journalist. Journalists died at a faster rate under your beloved Yeltsin. And more

The U.S. will be sneaking a $400 million aid package past the Cowardly Traitors of Congress to Ukraine. The money came from credits refunded to the Pentagon from recent purchases. The package is expected to include "artillery".

I’d prefer Congress just passed the aid package, but I’ll take creative solutions, too. Biden also needs to be taking more provocative steps with our armed forces to send Congress a message: I can either keep pressure on Russia by sending Ukraine stuff, or I can use my lawful authority as Commander in Chief to put the armed forces in positions of increasing concern to Russia to cause that pressure. Which would the people’s representatives prefer?

Yep. Got it. They say their primary concern is not escalating tensions with Russia, though. If the only alternative you give them is the far more escalatory move of pushing the U.S. armed forces in tighter and calling Putin’s bluff, then maybe sending Ukraine munitions does not appear to be as risky.
