Ukraine's tech team has given Musk the algorithm to shut down Russia using starlink.

Ukraine Offers SpaceX the Perfect Solution to Stop Russian Use of Starlink (msn.com)

The Ukrainian government, recognizing the strategic importance of maintaining control over satellite internet access within its borders, has proposed an innovative solution to Elon Musk’s Starlink. By developing an “algorithm,” they aim to prevent Russian soldiers from exploiting the technology in occupied areas of Ukraine. This move underscores a broader effort to safeguard critical communication channels in conflict zones.

“We found an appropriate algorithm, proposed it to SpaceX, and now we have clear communication on how to prevent similar cases,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, illustrating the proactive steps taken by the Ukrainian government to address this challenge.

In crafting their response, Ukrainian officials took cues from SpaceX’s efforts to manage Starlink’s deployment in Israel, particularly during heightened tensions with Gaza.

This examination provided valuable insights into how similar challenges were navigated, laying the groundwork for the proposed algorithm that could selectively block access to Starlink services in occupied territories while ensuring that Ukrainian forces remain connected.

But at least a Russian plane crashed …

While the information gained for the war may benefit Washington, Kiev is losing on the battlefield. According to a soldier who escaped the Avdiivka and spoke with the Associated Press, the Ukrainians were outnumbered five to one. Additionally, hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers were killed or captured as Russian forces conquered the city.

Additionally, the AP explained that the manpower shortage is precluding military operations. The outlet reports, "[Ukrainian] Commanders say they don’t have enough soldiers to launch offensives, and barely enough to hold positions amid intensifying Russian assaults."

Kiev is struggling to recruit new soldiers, and Ukrainians are doing what they can to avoid conscription. One Ukrainian speaking with the AP about Kiev’s increasingly aggressive conscription policy lamented, "It’s a feeling that everyone wants to throw you in a meat grinder."

Washington and its NATO partners have viewed Ukraine as a proxy war to weaken Russia. While the Joe Biden administration has touted this policy as "for Ukraine," it has severely harmed the country.

Black Sea Fleet ain't exactly a beacon of Russian military competence either.

I have read reports that 25 Russian Naval vessels gave been sunk, ships of various categories including the flagship of the fleet.

This has caused Russia to withdraw vessels, not only that, Russia has been compromised in its effort to stop grain shipments.

It really is remarkable. FEB 22 2022 Russia was considered second only to the US in military might.

In a conflict where one side held all the high cards, a country with patrol boats for navy, hand me down Soviet era aircraft and a poorly equipped army a 1/4 of the size of Russia, has stalemated Russia on land, sea and air.

An opportunity exists to further that stalemate and thwart Putins European territorial aggression.

Keep the aid flowing and Ukraine has already proven they are more than capable to thwart Putins evil ambitions.

And notice the Soviet/German front line remained largely a stalemate for two and a half years, until it didn't....

And notice when the US came to the aid of one of those combatants with vast amounts of military aid.... that side succeeded.

No more aid coming. Russia has advanced 4x as much this quarter than the same time frame last year. Most of it in the last three weeks. Without direct us aid this will turn ugly pretty fast imo. Europe just can’t provide the same amount of anti air or artillery ammo or armored vehicles or spare parts or even bullets. Russia is advancing now because they will soon, finally have air superiority because Ukraine will run out of missiles. Plain and simple. I know many conservatives are cheering about this right now but it will certainly go down as one of the most cowardly acts of any us political party perhaps ever in history.

Ukraines only chance now, with obvious Republican inaction, are three things. 1. Putin dies of old age, 2. NATO enters the war, or 3. They hang on long enough for dems to win in 2024. Of those three long shots number three is probably most likely but that’s surviving for an entire year without us support. Id be frankly stunned if they manage that.

Included the link in a previous post. The opening paragraph from a column by Thomas Friedman says it all:
I’ve got a suggestion for the next Trump-G.O.P. fund-raising scheme. You know how sports memorabilia stores sometimes sell basketballs autographed by an entire N.B.A. team? Well, I was imagining that Donald Trump could sell white flags at $1,000 a pop that say, “We surrendered Ukraine to Russia,” autographed by him and the House and Senate MAGA sycophants he’s assembled to deny Ukrainians the weapons they need to stave off Vladimir Putin’s onslaught.
    Trump’s G.O.P. Is a Confederacy of Fakers

As does the title of this slightly older column by Friedman
The G.O.P. Bumper Sticker: Trump First. Putin Second. America Third.

I also compared Trump with Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister who in essence agreed to Hitler's occupation of the Sudetenland (part of Czechoslovakia with a large ethnic German population) in 1938. In retrospect the comparison dishonors the memory Chamberlain. While he was naive and history proved him wrong he genuinely thought that Hitler would stop with the Sudetenland. Putin has made it absolutely clear that his immediate goal is to reabsorb Ukraine back into Russia as it was during the Soviet and Czarist eras and to reconstitute the Soviet and Czarist Russian empires. There is absolutely no doubt that if he succeeds with Ukraine he will keep going with Moldova and the Baltic states next and maybe into Eastern Poland which was actually part of Russia under Czars and was under Soviet domination during the Cold War.

Russian Support for War Collapses as Conflict Enters Third Year (msn.com)

Support in Russia for the war started by Vladimir Putin has slumped by a quarter in the last 12 months, amid increasing anxiety among the population about impending mobilization, a survey by an independent Russian pollster has found. Official state poll results in Russia claim answers to the question about support for the war represent people's sentiments. However, the research group Chronicles, founded by Aleksei Miniailo, a Russian opposition politician, and a team of sociologists, says this is not true. It adds that people answer "yes" not just out of genuine support, but also as a sign of loyalty or for fear of repressions.
    ...........................................................................................................
That is a sign of how tired people are of the war and that they are aware that going there is no good," Miniailo told Newsweek. The poll also asked people what they will expect to happen after the elections if Putin wins and what they want to occur.

If Putin wins, 72 percent of Russian anticipated the Kremlin spending more on the armed forces, but only 49 percent desire this. It also found 83 percent want the government to focus on social and economic problems; 58 percent wanted a truce with Kyiv; and 51 percent for ties with the West to be restored.

"We found a very wide gap between what Russians want and what they expect from Putin," Miniailo said. "It will be even bigger when they see what Putin is actually doing, because more than 50 percent of Russians expect that Putin will turn his prime attention to solving inner Russian problems in society and economics," he added, "but he will not do that.

s-200 missile took down their awacs after it was painted by something

How Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down second Russian A-50U AWACS plane explained by military expert (msn.com)

Narozhnyy said that the key issue revolves around how the plane was targeted. The S-200 missile requires target designation and tracking. A radar system must continuously track the target as the missile homes in on it, a process that can take several minutes.

He mentioned a theory suggesting that a radar, possibly deployed on either a ground-based or airborne drone, illuminated the A-50, allowing one or possibly multiple S-200 missiles to be launched, resulting in the plane’s downing. According to experts, this theory is credible.

Experts note that we possess a significant stockpile of S-200 missiles in our arsenals, and our allies in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, and other former socialist countries also possess substantial quantities. They are willing to provide them to us to avoid the costs of disposal.

Practically speaking, taking politics out of it, the aid isn’t coming. You know that much, right? So the question becomes, what fallout will Biden have if the situation capitulates as you’ve described above?
