Well if we insisted Canada only have a puppet government you might have a valid point. Ukraine is the good guys here, Russiais the bad guy.
Jeez, I can't believe I am saying this but I think I prefer your religious posts to your geopolitical posts. How can one person believe so much nonsense?
Per CNN live....Anonymous taking responsibility "Multiple Russian media websites are hacked and show anti-Putin messages From Anna Chernova and Vasco Cotovio in Moscow Several Russian media websites appear to have been hacked and at least three are currently displaying an anti-war message. “Dear citizens. We urge you to stop this madness, don’t send your sons and husbands to certain death. Putin makes us lie and puts us in danger,” a message written in Russian on the Forbes Russia, Fontanka, Takie Dela websites and seen by CNN says. “We have been isolated from the whole world, oil and gas are no longer traded. In a few years, we will be living like in North Korea,” it added. "
I hope they have body cams and armor... CNN live "Belarusian minister welcomes Ukrainian and Russian delegations for talks, saying they should feel "completely safe" Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei welcomed delegations from Ukraine and Russia for talks on Monday, assuring delegates that they should feel “completely safe.” “Dear friends, the President of Belarus asked me to welcome you and to provide everything for your work, as agreed with President Zelensky and President Putin. You may feel completely safe here. This is our sacred duty,” Makei said. "
Good call. I didn't think of that either. But isn't the price already going up, and he's still getting those profits?
Reports had surfaced that they were POWs. It was an attack on an island and with no communication I could see where there could be confusion. They'd been making it sound like they surrendered for no reason. Being taken as a POW is not a good thing. As for propaganda, that's been around throughout history. Every side, every war. Videos and today's society make some of that both easier and harder (live feeds harder to hide, editing software to fabricate). So not shocked. Happy they're alive.
Cannot speak for Germany but unless Russia withdraws from Ukraine the US will probably stop buying Russian oil within three or four months at the most. By that time US production should have ramped up sufficiently to replace the Russian oil and there are always alternative sources if it's still necessary to import oil.
The price of a barrel of oil will by itself cause US production to rise as more marginal wells will be brought online as those wells become profitable when oil hits $100 a barrel.
I'm saying that is the reason we are in the pickle we are in nothing more nothing less. If you cannot grasp that sorry.
My initial thoughts when this started was this was all a feint by Russia to increase oil prices. I was wrong on that but this was when we all thought putin was a shrewd operator and not a madman.
