Biden should respond "if that is the case, we're going to have to send more Abrams and F-16's." I bet that shuts him up.
Then, predictably that Medvedev blowhard will threaten to vaporize the entire west in 15 minutes. 1000mg of stfu, stat. Not the capsule, not the injectible, but the suppository.
Rumor has it that Putin has ordered his defense minister to stop Ukraine's counter-attack within a month. The defense minister Shoigu might think that his life depends on following this order and being successful. This might explain the extreme desperation in Russia's moves in the last month or so, throwing everyone they can into the major battles without much of a plan. A little late to bring in Wagner with Prigozhin in charge . . . An insider claims Putin ordered his defense minister to stop Ukraine's counteroffensive within a month — and it may explain why Russia is making costly attacks, war analysts say
Agreed. There’s only so many times a bully can threaten you until you need to stand up and say, “Do it, [insert favorite expletive]!” Like I said, we already know it’s bluster. We know how scared they are. The target audience for those threats is the average American who is not read in on how bad things are for Moscow.
Russians aren’t denying it. That they got so many suggests it wasn’t luck. And they got some non naval guys including the guy charge of Russian forces in Zaporizhzhia. They had intelligence about the meeting
An adult’s game charges an adult’s price. And “That used to be mine, and I’m taking it back” is an adult’s game.
How do we feel about sending 25 billion in non military aid ? https://x.com/60Minutes/status/1706088686129995860?s=20
Don’t worry. That inexorable Russian counteroffensive is still coming … any day now. And then we will all see what fools we were for speaking out against the Russian juggernaut and not just letting them feast on what was always theirs anyway.
First, win the war. Then resolve the conflict. And only then will I be too happy to discuss what rebuilding should look like and what a fair contribution from the U.S. would be.
This next week may be the nexus point. If Ukraine can take Verbove there is a lot of open territory headed east. With Atacms, Ukraine will be able to sever rail and highway links coming from the north. MSN According to the Institute for the Study of War, evidence suggests that Ukrainian forces have entered Verbove and are trying to capture it. If the Ukrainian military manages to capture the village, they could quickly cover the considerable open ground to its southwest and create the conditions for an operational breakthrough. Although extensive and composed of numerous layers, Russia’s defensive lines are not constant. Verbove, for example, connects the first two lines of Russian defenses. There are gaps that the Ukrainians can exploit, and for the first time since their counteroffensive began in early June, the Ukrainian military has managed to take advantage. Fighting over the coming days will determine whether Ukrainian forces manage to achieve an operational breakthrough soon.
Now we know where the intel for the meeting came from...or is this just propaganda? MSN After missing their anticipated salary payments, Russian officers decided to leak sensitive information about Moscow's Black Sea Fleet to a Ukrainian partisan movement. The intelligence later paved the way for a devastating missile strike on the fleet's headquarters in the occupied Crimean peninsula, Ukrainian media reported. Ukrainian resistance fighters told the Kyiv Post in a recent interview that they managed to gather information about high-ranking Russian commanders from officers who were frustrated by Moscow's failure to pay their salaries on time. The officers were financially compensated in exchange for the information, which was then passed along to state agencies and reportedly used to plan last week's attack on the Black Sea Fleet's headquarters.
Seems like if it’s propoganda, its aim would be to sow further distrust in the Russian ranks. If the Russians are paying their officers in timely fashion, then such a report could be laughed off. Wouldn’t be very effective as propaganda if totally off base. On the other hand if there’s some truth to that “missed payments” aspect, of officers not being paid on time, then who knows. Could still be propaganda, but that intel was definitely good!
I can think of one other reason to leak that story: to give deniability to a third-party nonbelligerent who might be able to determine that kind of information and pass it along to Ukraine. But I have no idea. Maybe a Russian really did sell the information.
i'm sure there a lot in Crimea who would like to see the Russians gone and some of them might even be attractive young women who engage in pillow talk with loose lipped russian officers. seems more likely than someone intentionally sold them out but if creates more mistrust and discord in their officer ranks, I'm all for it.
That reminds me of an apocryphal story from WW2. Nothing to do with what’s going on in Ukraine per se. Just amusing. And apologies in advance if I’ve told this joke before. I’m an old man. We repeat ourselves. On the eve of the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union, a German general was trying to impress his mistress by sharing some of the plan. But the young woman was confused on some of the details. “Liebchen,” she said, “Can you show me where the Reich is?” Humoring her, the general patiently brought over a globe and pointed to Germany. She measured it with her hand. “Liebchen, can you show me where the Soviet Union is?” Smiling, the general again pointed. She measured it with both hands from Europe all the way to the Pacific. Then she carefully compared Germany to the Soviet Union a couple of times. “Liebchen,” she said after a few moments, “has the Fuehrer seen this globe yet?”
So Russia put out this video of the supposedly deceased admiral to show proof of life, but as far as I can understand he doesn’t say anything like “Look, here I am. You missed me.” It appears to be a routine VTC that could have taken place before the attack. Who knows? I could show video evidence that Ronald Reagan was still with us as well. https://www.usnews.com/news/world/a...hown-working-after-ukraine-said-it-killed-him
