They have him 6’10” and Reese 6’9” nice weight but after them its 6’7” and smaller. We have to get them in foul trouble and check their guards on the 3 point line.
Alex and the boys are gonna sprint up the court time and time again. For their sake, I hope big boy likes sprinting for 40 minutes.
Terp's hardly use a bench, while the starting 5 is formidable, and no doubt in shape, UF's depth might be the winning formula.
Its close enough that I can understand not calling it with the game on the line with a bit of a question in your mind But like I said in the other thread, its not a good look when the team that seemingly got away with a travel to win the game also only had 5 fouls at the end.
It was a travel. NBA has a “gather” step rule which would have allowed that particular play to stand. College ball does not have that rule.. makes it a travel. But I agree completely that the 4seed only having five fouls and not getting called for travels twice in the last minute.. is not a good look for the refs.
Refs don't care. NCAA don't care. CBS announcers don't care... Funny, some people here thought the refs were being TOO ticky-tacky with calls that are frequently ignored early in this tournament. Now all they care about is getting .10s of seconds put back on the clock.
Funny you mention the gather step. Watching post game coverage on CBS, Jay Wright and the other former coach on the panel, forget who it is, both said definitely was not a travel because you get a gather step. Has something changed or do those coaches/analysts not know the rules?
This is a rare case where I'm not sure we want to get their bigs in foul trouble. Make them stay on the court all game long. Unless it is our guards starting drawing the fouls, as I don't really want to see Condon, Chinny or Handy at the line cladding free throws. I'd rather see those big guys gassed with 10 minutes left in the game trying to keep up with Condon sprinting up and down the court.
Another question the refs have to answer is why did they end the game when there was clearly .2 seconds left on the clock? Sure, highly improbable but still enough time for a long inbounds and tip-in by CSU. Edit: In fact, it looks like CSU still had a timeout and could have advanced the ball to half-court. A throw towards the basket and a tip-in is, again, improbable but not impossible.
Nah, it was pretty egregious. It was like a MJ dunk in the 80s but it wasn’t that. He took 3 steps and it was a flagrant walk. We all said it in game thread.
