Where was the Capitol security when protesters strolled up to entrance?

How did they know detailed layouts of the building? They are communicating information that is not readily available while trying to break into the building.

Apparently based on info obtained prior to the event, which suggests a plan.

I listened to Malcomn Nance today on Sirius, who writes book on right wing terrorism and claims to have some current sources ... he says the Capitol invaders had all sorts of information, including maps of the underground tunnels ... but most disturbing, he said there were "murder cells" with a hit list, who wanted to use the invasion as a cover to kill certain congress men and women. He also said the FBI has specific intelligence that the day would play out exactly as it did, but never issued a report. He said no extra security was brought in and the only guards there were basically the regular day shift.

There were probably multiple different groups there with different specific plans, or ideas for things they wanted to do (such as hanging the VP, whatever zip tie guys had planned, stealing the record of votes from the parliamentarian’s office, etc). There may be multiple levels to the criminal conspiracy, or even several separate criminal conspiracies within that mob of criminals.

They all had one thing in common, they were all invited there ON THAT DAY by Donald Trump, who also egged them on to the capitol with the clear intent to disrupt congress from carrying on their constitutional duties.

The FBI had this the day before, but somehow they failed to upgrade security ....

From behind the WaPo paywall (I finally bought a subscription)...

A situational information report approved for release the day before the U.S. Capitol riot painted a dire portrait of dangerous plans, including individuals sharing a map of the complex’s tunnels, and possible rally points for would-be conspirators to meet in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and South Carolina and head in groups to Washington.

“As of 5 January 2021, FBI Norfolk received information indicating calls for violence in response to ‘unlawful lockdowns’ to begin on 6 January 2021 in Washington, D.C.,” the document says. “An online thread discussed specific calls for violence to include stating ‘Be ready to fight. Congress needs to hear glass breaking, doors being kicked in, and blood from their BLM and Pantifa slave soldiers being spilled. Get violent. Stop calling this a march, or rally, or a protest. Go there ready for war. We get our President or we die. NOTHING else will achieve this goal.”

CNN just reported that the FBI has evidence to suggest that people left the rally to get weapons and other materials for the assault on the capitol. That also suggests pre-planning. You don't have stashed supplies for spontaneous events, generally.

Two of the dunces were police officers from NC. One a former sniper in the Army. They bragged about being involved but after being arrested, their tune changed. These aren't the only police or military, a number which is bound to grow as the investigations continue.

Two Cops, Including a Trained Sniper, Arrested for Taking Part in Capitol Insurrection

Two Virginia police officers, including one who is an Army veteran and trained sniper, have been arrested after they allegedly took part in the Capitol riot—then boasted about it being legal on Facebook afterward.

Jacob Fracker and Thomas Robertson, both officers with the Rocky Mount Police Department, were charged on Wednesday with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building without lawful authority, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Daily Beast.

Prosecutors allege the two cops, who were off-duty when they traveled to D.C., were photographed inside the Capitol “making an obscene statement in front of a statue of John Stark.” The photo was then posted on social media—where Robertson defended their actions and said he was “fucking proud” because he was “willing to put skin in the game,” according to a criminal complaint.

“CNN and the Left are just mad because we actually attacked the government who is the problem and not some random small business ... The right IN ONE DAY took the f***** U.S. Capitol. Keep poking us,” Roberson wrote.

These are the same police officers who then go back home, slip on their law enforcement uniforms and badges, and then proceed to unleash their domestic terrorism on unarmed citizens who don't look like them. But let some delusional folks tell it, there is no institutional racism in the police department.

They took the Capitol while having feds, Capitol police, politicians and Lord only knows who else in their back pocket. That's like a sports team bragging about winning a game while being in cahoots with the referees.

    Exactly. That's my point. Why?

Why "let them in" rather than seek to preserve a periphery???

They were invited in--they did not overpower the security detail, shoot their way in or such.

    They were baited in.
