Trump delayed a response by the National Guard. It was Pence who gave the order, affirmed by the whole Congressional leadership.

The Guard didn’t get called out until the Members and Senators were taken to a secure location in the basement or through the tunnels. In other words, after the Congress was safe. If this was a coup (and it may not) the reinforcements didn’t arrive until the possible coup had failed.

    This requires immediate investigation.

Yes. And I mean the disparities between Black and white people in this country can be best explained by our history of racism and white supremacy and the institutional racism that still exists today.

Listen up people. Stop calling other posters names like "troll." It is against the rules and can bring about being blocked from either the thread or the forum.

A racist judge is exactly that . . . institutional racism. Goodness gracious. At least I know not to bother reading any more of your posts. Thanks for getting that out in the first sentence.

Racism is about power, and money is power. When an Asian comes here with an education and money, and seeks to extend it, they are already better off, and they can buy their way into society. When Asians with no money and little or no education come here, they fare as well as African Americans, if not worse. And that's the American system of racism at work.

And again, I condemn the violence that stemmed from this summer's protests. But the underlying reason BLM protesters were out there is something that should be supported. There is still institutional racism in this country, and unless you get money or power, you have a hard time getting your voice heard. Even when you get money or power, and do something non-violent like kneel during the National Anthem, there are still people who just want to drown out your voice!

As for the MAGAts assault and coup attempt on the Capitol, we should all be disgusted. It was based on a cult worship of Trump, who has not only convinced himself he's won despite all the evidence against him, but millions of mindless followers as well. These people are dangerous and deranged, and there's no other way to put it.

There is another video where he is taunted while walking all the way to the gate. Profanity galore. And this is for one of Trump closest allies. Because everything Trump touches . . . something. I forget.

Dude, you misread my comments 100%. I was calling them a bunch of fools and idiots that were not organized, had no plan and accomplished no goals except roaming around like cattle and causing a lot of empty noise (and ultimately getting themselves fired and arrested). Nothing about them was “good ol’ boys” or remotely diminishing what terrible people they are.

So no, it wasn’t “a poor characterization on (my) part,” because I didn’t make any characterization remotely resembling “just a bunch of good ol folks a roamin". Not even in the same universe of what I said.

This makes my point. If they weren’t a bunch of moronic boobs, if they had any organization or strategy at all, they’d have set off those explosives, they’d have taken hostages, they’d have done something remotely resembling their stated goal to “stop the steal”. They didn’t even put up force to hold the building once the appropriate magnitude of force was brought to push them back out.

The thugs who took over and occupied the federal installation in Oregon had a plan and was organized. It was a bad plan, a stupid plan, they didn’t even think to bring food and water, but they seized and held the property for some time.

unfortunately, not really. Their own is Trump. He's their state, he's their law, he's their constitution.

Goodbye to Trump 2024. This insurrection weeded out the weaklings who supported Trump because of his policies - now only the truly crazy supporters remain by his side (a small but still substantial base).

PS - anyone have problems accessing this website recently? I was bored and so went onto this GatorChat message board politics forum - some really loony people on there saying to harm Democrats and that Trump can still be president THIS YEAR.
