Not sure what you're referring to about 'humans have done it', but whatever we've done, did we stumble accross it accidentally, or did we employ Intelligence to do whatever we did?

Oh, that does not seem to explain this comment. Christians seem to think they know quite a bit about their god.

    "A mystery beyond comprehension."

see post 3601. But, now that I know you believe in a specific god, I think I know the ans. You think over turning evolution ( which I don't think takes a pos on the origin of life, but I don't know) supports that your god did it. Lame.

God's ways are indeed beyond my comprehension. (IIRC, the question was how did intelligence come about?)

I've no idea about the origin of everything, but human intelligence & humans could have been created by a far more intelligent being w/o that being being a god. heck, that being coulda been created by a non god that was 1000s of times more intelligent & so on & so forth. Overturning evolution still leaves infinite theories of the origin of humans & human intelligence.

Concur/exactly my point ('you don't have to belive in God or gods...just recognize that life = fruit of intelligence regardless of to whom or what you ascribe it to'<---paraphrasing myself up above).

To whom I ascribe it--God--is admittedly, a matter of faith.

But that intelligence preceded life and life = fruit of intelligence, is pretty much a matter of deductive reasoning.

...and then we get back to the source of the problem.

Evolution vs. Intelligent design is an entirely wrong dichotomy.

There is no dichtomy here. Evolution does nothing to disprove ID, nor vice versa.

Evolution, through natural selection, is a reducing process that presuposes life. N/S works by pruning from existing life (by insuring that inadequate life does not perpetuate itself, leaving only the adequately suited life to do so), while life in all forms, and completely separate from N/S, strives to increase by its very nature.

Evolution is utterly meaningless, without the driving force that impels life to seek to perpetuate itself in infinite forms.

The school of thought I dismiss upthread as utterly absurd, seems to hold that the duductive process of natural selection yielded the compulsion of life to thrive.

It's like conflating shitting with giving birth.

sentencing lighter than recommended in most cases. imo this could be a result of
    1) judges conclude maga is in a cult mindset and the rioters believed falsely what the potus told them. Many rioters recanted and realized how wrong they were. Maybe because they were arrested for beating LEO?

    2) most maga rioters were established with a family and career. Judges didn’t want to “ruin their lives”.
*sidenote: I wonder what courts would do if BLM attacked on our capital. Most people I know would still be disgusted the attempts to stop transition of power. maga followers would have a totally different perspective and no weird conspiracies how the feds were behind it. And just imagine repubs in congress; so hypocritical.

“the judges in U.S. District Court in Washington, despite harsh words for the convicted defendants about the historic impact of their actions, have gone below federal prosecutors’ sentencing recommendations in more than three-quarters of the cases so far, and below the advisory sentencing guidelines nearly 40 percent of the time.”

“I don’t think this sentence should ruin your life,” Judge Mehta told the Capitol rioter, who expressed remorse for his actions.”

“I believe you are a good man who messed up badly,” Judge McFadden said, “but I believe you recognize you messed up, and that also is part of criminal justice.”

"A Marine who said he was waiting for "Civil war 2" and two other active-duty members of the military have been charged with participating in the riot at the U.S. Capitol, authorities said in newly filed court papers.

Dozens of people charged in the riot have military backgrounds, but these three are among only a handful on active duty. A Marine Corps officer seen on camera scuffling with police and helping other members of the mob force their way into the Capitol was charged in 2021.

"We honestly need a fresh restart. I'm waiting for the boogaloo," Coomer wrote in a message detailed in court documents. When asked by the person what's "a boogaloo," Coomer responded "Civil war 2,"

"At one point while in the rotunda, they put a red "Make American Great Again" hat on a statue to take pictures with it,"

    Trial by jury…..

“Richard Barnett, who famously put his feet up on a desk in Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office as rioters swarmed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was convicted by a Washington jury Monday of all eight charges he faced, including four felonies.

as well as disorderly conduct in the Capitol while carrying a dangerous weapon: a “Hike ‘N Strike” walking stick that doubles as a stun weapon.

…..he angrily berated Capitol Police officers inside the rotunda after leaving Pelosi’s suite, appearing to beckon the mob forward”
