Since two priceless Price movies are on TCM tonight, I decided to take a look at his bio at Wikipedia. His daughter wrote in her Price biography that he went to Germany and Austria as a young man. And “when Hitler came into power, instead of seeing him as a dangerous force, he was sort of swept up in this whole idea that Hitler was going to bring German pride back.” Wow, that sounds kind of familiar. Price thought Hitler was going to make Germany great again!

But back in New York in the 1930s, Price became a liberal, “so much so,” she says, “that he was ‘greylisted’ under McCarthyism in the 1950s for having been a prewar ‘premature anti-Nazi.’” Wow. That sounds like being early woke or something! A premature anti-Nazi?

Anyway, Price was marvelous in horror movies back in the day, unaware, of course, of the political horror his country would be enduring today. No screenwriter could make it up.

Hitler, much like Trump and his facist Maga followers, manipulated "right and wrong", "winner and loser" and "Making Germany Great Again" as part of his political verbiage. His particular phrase: Ein Reich, Ein Volk, Ein Fuhrer.

The perfect mind control B.S. -
Ein Reich - German Nationalism. lets see, that little item resulted in what? 50,000,000 dead? Reminds me of the Trump flag wavers.
Perfect for the German Construction industry, every city over 25,000 bombed out? Lots of jobs, only dead men and cripples available however.
Ein Volk - MAGA part two. This is for the RACISTS - You know the "Volk", The white folks! They of Concentration Camp and Holocaust Infamy.
Ein Fuhrer - Oh yeah, the great leader, savior of the people! That American version is coming to us in Nov. I wonder if this facist version winds up
marrying a whore, (Melania is on the way out) biting his cyanide capsule and blowing his bitter brain out of his head.

But I can't forget Vincent - Great actor for his day, I enjoy his movies. Thanks for that tidbit.

The Republican’s pre war love and support of Hitler is a buried part of history. It doesn’t surprise me that McCarthy was black balling people for not loving Nazis enough….

Prediction: for some, mention of Hitler will occasion, “That reminds me of Trump.”

    Oh, too late.

Excellent post! (The come on man by the usual suspect shows he hasn't the foggiest idea what your point was. Either that or he would have joined the Hitler cult.)

Those of us not in the Trump cult recognize the similarities.

I enjoy "come on man's." It usually means that the person has nothing coherent to say in reply. If it's someone who lives in that cult or big bubble (hot air balloon?) known as Trumpland, I can guarantee it. (Hey, I've got a good idea for a parody of Alice in Wonderland. How about Malice in Trumpland?)

Might also mean he didn't find your post worthy of a reply.

But don't quote me on that.

Some funny ass shit there bro!

    Quality daily Trumpgasm!

Now to humor your indulgence here, let's compare Trump's term as POTUS (you do realize he was POTUS before, no? So we really don't need foolish speculation about what a Trump presidency *might* or *would* look like....we actually got one we can point to, and look at, no?), to Hitler's reign over the Germany, or, how'd you call it--the "Ein Reich"?

So what did Trump do that you would compare to Hitler's death camps?

Hitler's 6 million Jew body count?

The 50 million WW II body count?

The invasion and occupations of Europe, the western Russia?

    Go:

The next wave of wokeness. Cancel 19th century presidents because they ignored the Nazi threat. Lincoln couldn't find an envelope big enough to squeeze in a sentence or two about Hitler at Gettysburg? SMDH.

Otherwise they would have been premature anti-Nazis.

I remember the McCarthy hearings, the Un-American Activities hearings, and the Hollywood blacklist, but I don't remember a damn thing about premature anti-Nazis.
