Veterans Day is Friday......

To all who served, may you feel blessed to live in this country you so courageously defended. To my dad and four of his brothers, my uncles that served and survived WW2 and have moved on, may your memories never be forgotten. My dad was a USMC and fought in the Battle of Peleliu, a dreadful battle in terrible conditions. Two of my uncles landed on the beaches of Normandy. One of them Uncle Tullis climbed the walls in the first wave and survived. Another, Uncle Sherman was in the second wave at Normandy and made it back as well. I am thankful every chance I get to visit our local Veterans Park and see their five names on each of the clay tiles lined up together. Its quite the honor each and every time I hear the National Anthem played live to stand and remember their service to this great nation.

 

Thank you Veterans… you paid a great price and we’d not be free without you.

Happy Veterans Day to all that volunteered and faithfully served their country, young & old. A special debt of gratitude and salute to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice, at home and all around the world. It will always be a very special day for me, as I remember my incredible Dad, who signed up for the Navy at 17yo and spent 30yrs doing what he truly loved.

* If you’ve never been to Arlington National Cemetery I highly recommend it. Walk the hallowed grounds, read some stones, it will nourish your soul and enrich your appreciation for life and all that we have.

Blessed to live in the country I served, and blessed to have served the country I live in. Still great after all these years (despite its warts and wrinkles).
