    Median IQ is 100 so 125 is almost 2 standard deviations above the mean, higher than like 95% of the population.

    I think 95% is probably a bit exaggerated, but 125 is definitely above average -- but wouldn't get you into gifted classes when I was in school, which was 130+...

    Again, my point is the guy wasn't a super genius, or even a genius, he was in the range of being very smart but not gifted...which means the police that denied him the job interview were not even interested in having "very smart" people on the force.

    At first glance o think the IQ limit is stupid, but is ot really different than when I flip a resume over to "file 13" because a person is severely overqualified for the position I am hiring for?

    Look we need nore smart cops, but if their metrics show that those people don't stick and are a waste of money and resources,I kind of get it.

    The solution? Make it a job that really smart people want. (Pay, support, better PR)... But in todays environment what super smart person wants low pay while walking on eggshells?
