The main point I want to make is the admirable part of what you did IMO was the hard part. That took courage and it was motivated by your basic decency. I don't honestly know what I would have done in the same situation.
This may have been brought up, but why did this woman feel it was her place to say anything at all? Did she know why he was doing what he was doing? He very well could have been doing exactly what he was told to do, his job. But somehow she knew better and took it upon herself to tell him. You call here a sweet lady but did you hear the entire conversation before you got involved? You mentioned she was in her 20/30's. She very well could have mouthed off on the guy for where he was parked and was soft spoken with you once he returned fire. The guy very well could be an AH but she also could have started the entire exchange by "suggesting" to a worker how to do his job without knowing what he was doing.
Our country is and always has been awesome, the best in the world. Unfortunately we have some crappy people who live here
1. Thank you for standing up for someone weaker. 2. I do not believe “this is where our country is today” nor do I believe our country sucks. People like this have always been here and will always be here. Ignorant bullies. They come in every shape, size and color. Always have always will. It takes people with courage to stand up to them.
Social justice in its pure sense? Absolutely! Woke is what happens when social justice loses its purity.
This won't be a popular take but as someone in an occupation where 20 something's frequently tell me how they think i should do my job, it is very frustrating. I'm able to handle it without being an ahole, but yeah, that crossed my mind when reading it.
I definitely can see a racist component. Especially back when we were closer to a time when animosity existed, but the further weve come it seems that has faded. I see it like GatorBait. The term had evolved into something completely different void of harm. I call bikes rice rockets and cars rice wagons or whatever. I have never once thought about people when doing it. I also call those stupid scooters "liquor cycles". THOSE things should be banned!
Being "woke" isn't necessarily a bad thing either. Something else that contingent took, flipped around, sullied and demonized.
Probably true in the extreme, yes. When I use the term I am more speaking of the fringe left that seems to just make up new grievances and then convinces people they are bad if they dont fall in line overnight. I agree that like most terms today, it is sometimes a hijacked term.
With multi colored unpainted panels and rear spoiler. Rice rocket is one of those annoying Japanese motorcycles operated by a thrill seeking rider weaving in and out of traffic going 100+
I would have stayed out of it unless the dude was threatening her physically. Being a small quiet person or a woman doesn’t mean they can’t turn on the jets and give him a dressing down. She may have been carrying too. I would’ve reported him though.
And you know how hard it is at times to get the gas truck in there, besides someone before could have forced him to park the way he did from being in the way. And I wonder how the lady approached was she rude or snarky, maybe. Maybe our local badass just herd part of the conversation and jumped to conclusions. And he could have jumped in at the right tim.
Hijacked by fox and the right. The only people I ever hear using the term "woke" are on the right and it's always with a negative context. My best friend who is a R was the first person I heard use the term a few years back. I have never heard one of my liberal friends use the term.
