Venezuelan crime organization green lights attacks on US law enforcement

It's all good. We need the competition for housing.

 

Sounds like a plot by the right wing funded private prison system to boost profits

 

I hadn't heard of this group before, but seems like a legitimate concern. If there's been a recent "green light," I wonder if that's because they're being hurt by law enforcement's efforts.

Today, the Biden-Harris Administration took new actions to halt the spread of Tren de Aragua, a transnational criminal organization from Venezuela that is involved in violent criminal acts, and hold their members and associates to account. First, the Department of the Treasury designated Tren de Aragua as a significant transnational criminal organization . As a result, all property and interests in property of Tren de Aragua that are in the United States or in the possession or control of U.S. persons are blocked. In addition, the Department of State, in coordination with the Department of Justice (DOJ), is offering up to $12 million in financial rewards for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of three leaders of Tren de Aragua.

 

Seems like a really poor business decision by the crime organization.

 

For a little context 262,633 Venezuelans migrated to the US in 2023 with 189,520 migrating in 2022 meaning those 1,000 represent well under 0.5% of Venezuelans in the US. The same argument was made over 100 years ago with respect to Italian immigrants a very small number of whom were members of the Mafia and an even smaller number were violent anarchists. By the way I recall not too long ago thay refugees from a certain authoritarian dysfunctional Marxist country located on an Island roughly 90 miles from the US were welcomed when the fled from that country in small boats. Refugees from a similar and much larger country in South America are now being demonized.

 

Criminals sitting around abiding by all US laws waiting to get an email announcement from criminals in Venezuela as to when they can crime. Good story bro.

 

You can always count on one contingent to propel immigrant crime fear-mongering.

I can’t speak to the specifics of how they got in, but I don’t find this to be a compelling argument.
