Yes, the betters did have an accurate guess. But, that did not cause us to lose seven games. What happens in Vegas has no bearing on what subsequently happens on the field.

 

All those big casinos in Vegas say its relevant..they didnt get built with the money from being wrong. They are the best in the business and while they may not have a damn thing to do with the won/loss record they have thousands of really good researchers and algorithms that say we win 5.5 games this year. If you think theyre way off go get some of that free money...maybe you are right and its easy money...but maybe they put a few more bricks in their next casino with your money.

 

Well it probably will but … most teams in the Nation would have that number against this schedule

Not me. I'm not even sure what you mean by that. Who defended Napier because Vegas predicted his season accurately? And, how would that relate to what I said?

We groused at Vegas predictions last year. And I’ll be damned if they weren’t accurate.

 

We should remember vegas and sportsbooks make the line so they can make money, not for precision in a prediction though they can be pretty close. They set the line where they predict the line will make them $$. In this case, opening lines are heavily influenced by previous year win totals so being at 5.5 isn't surprising and its just the starting point. The market takes it from there.
