Sure, that 5-game losing streak was unexpected. But 1-4 was expected given the opponents and the Gator performance up to that point, so it wasn't that big of an anomaly. And if you don't want to see another 5-game losing streak, umm maybe make other plans this November. That's an absolutely brutal stretch, UF should pull out one of the two home games but losing all 5 is certainly a good possibility.

You were unlucky to not hit the over once UF started 5-2. But luck goes both ways... UF was lucky to win at USCe and get to 5-2 in the first place. Luck usually evens out, Vegas knows that (they basically bank on it).

All of these coaching changes and vacancies are troubling. I reserve the right to change any prognostication after further review. But, my optimism will remain intact.

And now for a triple lindy off the local bank building, ya know, for posterity...o_O:eek:

    Go Gators.:p;)

If Ole Miss swaps schedules with UF, are they hoping for 6-6? If the answer is no, there is a problem.

If we had an ACC schedule the football program would be bringing in ~$20mil less in revenue. If we had an ACC schedule we would not have the innate recruiting advantage of being in the SEC. UF is not in the ACC, it will never be in the ACC, so what could or could not happen with ACC opponents is a completely useless thought.

Average SEC would be 4-4 in SEC play. Average SEC should be top 3 in anything not BIG 10. So, with the remaining 4 games, 1 cupcake, 1 Big 12, 2 ACC, the WORST case should be 3-1. That's 7-5, bare minimum for "average" SEC. Average shouldn't be the goal in year 3.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm completely out of touch with reality, but I expect UF to compete with and beat good teams. They should be a good team, not average.

I recognize this, but can't help thinking that it should never be the case at FL.

Of course not, but Ole Miss was 29-10 their last three years, while Florida is 17-21. For the last three years, at least, Ole Miss is the better program. But if Ole Miss had our schedule, I'd say their record would be about 7-5...

If we are basing our expectations on preseason rankings, they would be 10-2, but that isn't the point at all.

No, it could not get worse. Losing every game is preferable than this. That creates clarity and frees Saturdays.

And the reality is winning 0 vs winning 6 is effectively the same thing. No titles, no relevance, laughingstock.

So yes if we are a laughingstock I’d rather take the chance of not being a laughingstock. I’m not worried about becoming a bigger joke.

It blows my mind how many people here have been beaten into submission that UF football should be a perpetual joke.

Never understood why anyone would think that the win/loss line in Vegas was relevant to anything except betting. It has zero bearing on what the team does on the field.

    Just to play devils advocate

do you think Meyer or Spurrier would struggle to win 7 with the same players? And yes I know they are both hof coaches but lots of people lay it on the players and I think with a top notch coach we don’t have 3 losing seasons.

    Absolutely.

I agree, but we wouldn't have been 10-2, either. Look at Saban's first year at Bama, or Smart's first year at Georgia. Meyer's last year at Florida and all but three years of SOS at USCe.

    Jessies and Joes...

Agreed, bit Vegas O/U is nothing more than reading the tea leaves of bettors (fans) expectations. Their aim is to set a line that generates roughly equal action on both sides of the equation.

Only one legitimate cupcake on that schedule and the rest of the teams are locked and loaded with talent.

I wonder if Saban and Kirby had fun making our SEC schedule this year? I'm calling a win at home against LSU... right now. They have a mini gauntlet before they play us at GHGS at Steve Spurrier field.
