USA Today: Grades for First Year Coaches

D for sure if we are talking on the field. Can’t lose to Vandy bud.

I will give him a C though because the recruiting here is different than it was under Mullen or Mcelwain.

 

Frankly the overall performance for the year does not warrant a passing grade. But it appears that the entire list is on a bit of a curve, with Cristobal most certainly deserving an F.

Like I explained to my kids when they were learning to swim, there is a serious difference between being in over your head and not being able to touch bottom.

 

The USF game was definitely worse but that is the thing about football, sometimes the team that plays better doesn't win. UF was worse than USF that day but got the win; UF was better than Vandy that day but Vandy got the win.

 

To be fair, the Supreme Court is the one that put that nail in the coffin. Ultimately the blame lies with the NCAA and NFL, who thought their little arrangement would go on forever.

This could have been fixed decades ago.

 

I've kind of blocked most of the USF game from memory, but it's amazing how close we came to being USF's only FBS win this year.

 

Going to be hard for Napier to better this next year. Georgia already going after a number of our recruits and we lead the SEC in transfers. Not a good look when a 1st year coach loses 15 to the portal after his 1st full season.
