ahhhh. I had to go back and re read the entire thread to figure out which post you were referencing. My suggestion would be to hit “post reply” when you are responding to a specific post. My bad here. I thought you were responding to me because your post was directly below mine. I should have clarified myself. Sorry for sticking my nose in your side debate.

    Bruh. Stop digging.

And if we’re going to be precise about what the question was, I didn’t ask who makes rulings on evidentiary issues, I simply asked if the FRE applies to impeachment trials. You chose to answer a different question, one that happens to NOT be the most likely scenario in the case of Joe Biden provided this even gets that far.

So this sham of an inquiry is underway and the GOP House is already getting clowned.

Darling of the right wing media Jonathan Turkey testified today that he saw nothing rising to the level of High Crimes and Misdemeanors. This allegedly threw House members for a loop.

They also keep getting shot down for alleging political malfeasance that occurred in the Trump years when Biden was neither an officeholder or a candidate for office.

The goal isn't to impeach Biden, but to soften the notion of impeachment as it relates to Trump. If everyone is under impeachment probe, then nobody is.

So far the Republicans on the committee have presented strong evidence supporting the impeachment of Hunter Biden.

Hunter should be impeached immediately if not sooner except HE DOES NOT HOLD AN ELECTED OFFICE.

Don't like it. The entire GOP is just who trolls Dems the best and gets the biggest rise. Be better than them.

I have to give the Republican majority of the Committee real credit. It turns out that Hunter Biden is even sleazier than I had originally assumed. Although I admittedly didn't watch the hearing in its entirety from what I did watch and while we heard a lot of innuendo the Republicans still failed to provide any evidence indicating that Joe Biden committed "high crimes and misdemeanors" specifically that he received anything of value to influence policy. They did convince me that Hunter effectively created the illusion that he could influence his father (he apparently fooled the Republican majority of the committee if they were actually serious) although I don't think that's sufficient to impeach Joe Biden. It may also be indicative that Hunter probably violated the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) although I don't think that was the purpose of the hearing.

The Republicans called 4 expert witnesses to testify. 3 of them testified that there was no/insufficient evidence that would justify impeachment. #selfown

o_O You didn’t think he made a living selling that he was Joe Biden’s son?

I can’t think of one person who would care if Hunter Biden is found guilty of something. But nepotism and trading off the family name isn’t illegal. Maybe it should be but the Supreme Court says you need a direct link to an activity from a government official I believe. You’d know better than me.

At this point I think Hunter Biden should drop out of the primary. He's lost my vote after today

Here is the “devastating” recap by the actual GOP.. their words. I mean, at the end of the day they accuse Joe of being more knowledgeable about Hunters affairs than he led on (even if taken as a fact isn’t a crime). Firing a prosecutor in line with every directive from the US and the our allies (not a crime). The “Biden Family” which does not include Joe gets money from people (not a crime, and even if it is, doesn’t include Joe). And that is it.

Since January, House Committees on Oversight and Accountability, Judiciary, and Ways and Means have uncovered evidence showing President Joe Biden lied to the American people about his knowledge and participation in his family’s corrupt influence peddling schemes.

    • Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.): “For years, President Biden has lied to the American people about his knowledge of and participation in his family’s corrupt business schemes… Joe Biden is ‘The Brand.’ And Joe Biden showed up at least two dozen times with business targets and associates sending signals of access, influence, and power to those prepared to pay for it. The American people demand accountability for this culture of corruption.”
    • House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio): “Never forget four fundamental facts: One, Hunter Biden gets put on the board of Burisma, gets paid a lot of money. Fact number two: Hunter Biden’s not qualified to sit on the board, not my words, his words. He says he got on the board because of the brand, because of the name. Fact number three: the executives at Burisma ask Hunter Biden to weigh in and help them with the pressure they are under from the prosecutor in Ukraine. Face number four: Joe Biden goes to Ukraine on December 9, 2015, gives the speech attacking the prosecutor that starts the process of getting that guy fired.”
    • House Committee on Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith (R-Mo.): “Whether it was lunches, phone calls, White House meetings, or official foreign trips, Hunter Biden cashed in by arranging access to Joe Biden, the family brand. The Biden family and their associates received millions in payments from foreign sources, including from Russia, China, Ukraine, Romania, and in one email, Hunter Biden even bragged that he cut a deal for $10 million from just one company for ‘introductions alone.’ And yet the DOJ wanted to keep the spotlight as far from Joe Biden as possible.”
Based on the evidence, an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden’s conduct is warranted.
