Aberdeen will start the season at pg. This kid might beat him out as the season goes on but he might not. Y’all should expect Condon, Haugh and Aberdeen to be flat out ballers this year. Clayton and Richard will be a little improved but what they were last year is pretty good. These new guys will have to beat these 5 to start. We’re gonna have a really good team.
Anyone know what his stats are at the charity stripe? Most good shooters are also good at the line, right? Just curious - thanks!
Alas, the video is mostly shooting. We have a volume shooter. I want to see him do PG stuff, and some defense. But those aren't what goes into highlight reels, amirite?
this kid looks ready to start day 1. question is if he does which former starter is coming off the bench? My guess is Golden will have a lot of guys playing 20-25 minutes and really pick up the pace, going for volume of possessions game where we have 2-3 big defenders and rebounders on one end and 2-3 great scorers on the other (plus bigs getting off reb), so hopefully win the pts per possession battle Me likey
I am pretty bullish on what Aberdeen brings to the table. I do think he makes a real leap and gives us something similar to what Wilbekin did as a sophomore or J-Ham. I am pretty convinced Clayton starts out at the one and Martin at the two. But Klavzar really changes the equation a little. I thought Aberdeen would give us 20 minutes at the one off the bench, but I could also seem him as utility guy who can defend the 1-3 and be a secondary ballhandler, like Kugel last year. Klavzar is too small and doesn't have the athleticism to defend SEC wings, so I think he may eat Aberdeen's minutes at the one. If I had to take a wild guess, I would say something like this is possible: 1: Clayton (20); Klavzar (20) 2: Clayton (10); Martin (25); Aberdeen (5) 3: Richard (25); Aberdeen (15)
I was thinking this also, but you put it out there and if Urban is as good as his clips, this might be how it works out over the season. This also will keep everybody fresh. As for his defense, with his quick moves and feet, I feel he will actually take over in crunch time. Glad we got someone who can shoot and hit his shots with the big boys. His passing has flair and he brings a lot of energy. Glad he is on our team.
Lee Hump was not as good from the line as you would expect. But the sample size is pretty small. He never was a take it to the tin kind of player. Still you would think that he would at least get fouled on close outs occasionally.
Humphrey was probably the greatest 3-point shooter the Gators have ever had, but only about 50% from the free-throw line. Inexplicable.
Yup - precisely why I said there were 20+ minutes to be had at PG, and why I sensed that we were really after UK. The lineup can play-out a few ways (of course), but overall this is my general line of thinking too.
No clue who starts over who. However, what I am sure of is there will be some spirited practices. PT won’t come easy.
But he averaged 1.5 assists? What to make of that? I'm feeling a LOT of Clayton and Martin on the floor together. They're going to push each other and make each other better. Perhaps some friendly competition in the mix.
