“Walked into” may have been the wrong choice of words. He chose situations that were set up for him to win quickly. I never said he wasn’t elite and that he couldn’t recruit. I’m not saying he couldn’t get us going in the right direction. I’m saying I don’t think he would choose to.

Our situation isn't bad. With the portal and the talent in Florida we can quickly turn it around. Unfortunately Billy has a bad staff and he is insisent on being OC and slow playing the portal. Heck, he is even slow on hiring the replacement coaches. He is in over his head.

When Urban was offered the Bowling Green job he called Lou Holtz for his opinion. Urban told him that it wasn't that good of a job. From Urban's mouth, "He told me, 'no, it's not a good job, why do you think they want to hire you?'" I heard Urban say this in an interview. I may not have gotten it right verbatim, but it's close. So, no it wasn't a pretty good situation. Utah had two losing seasons in the 4 years prior to Urban.

Yep, if we had just tackled better, we'd be ecstatic about the progress. We tackled like Deion was coaching tackling.

No need to take his word for it. Look at Meyer's record at those schools.

One of the many flaws of this modern age of communication is that people do not investigate anything; they just repeat what someone else said, who most likely did not investigate anything either. A favorite on this board is that Urban inherited a national championship team already in place here and built nothing, and did the same at OSU. This notion is complete poppycock.

Sure, Zook left him with some good players, but what did Zook do with them? And Zook sure as s--- had nothing to do with the '08 championship.

Urban is a hall of fame college coach; the best in the business, imo. He struggles with stress and anxiety and comes unraveled, like he did here. It's too bad, because in his prime, I'd put him up against Saban any day. He has a winning record against little Nicky, two of which led to two of his Natties.

How long do you think he needed to get help dealing with his stress and anxiety? Five years?

When Urban left UF, the OSU job wasn't even on the horizon. That's NOT why he left UF.

That's why Zook got canned and Urban was hired. Zook could land them, but didn't know what to do with them once they were on campus. However, Zook didn't just leave him with some good players. Twenty of the twenty-two starters in the 2006 National Championship were Zook recruits. Denigrate his coaching ability, but to imply he only left him with some good players is disingenuous. It isn't like he just left him a handful.

I don't remember him saying that, but wouldn't be surprised that he did. Why? Because Jeremy Foley said it, and said he was worried about his health.

So... coaching doesn't matter? Meyer reinvented Chris Leak.

Zook didn't even leave him with a handful of players in '08. They were all his.

He actually did walk into good situations everywhere he went, and, not by accident. He has stated publicly that he has always wanted to head to a school with a foundation of good players, etc., already laid out. Not saying he didn't take the talent and turn it into a winning team everywhere he went, though. That is true.

What did you expect him to say? I wanted to go to crappy schools with crappy players? All coach speak.

But Meyer isn't coming back, so while it may be a fun discussion to some, it is a total waste of time. He isn't coming back to UF ever, and most likely not to anywhere else either.

Reading comprehension? I specifically said Zook could get them, but didn't know what to do with them. Had he, Urban would never have been at UF. And, I never said word one about 2008. I specifically said 20 of 22 of the starters in the 2006 NC were Zook recruits.

I didn't expect him to say that because I would think most coaches want to get credit for building their own empire. I never said he was coming back, nor do I want him to... he's a broken coach. How did you get that from what I said?

You know it’s bad when this place has finally buried the hatchet with Urban Meyer.

Urban is finished with coaching. Two bad exits at college level one bad exit in pro football. He is toast! Wouldn’t want him back and he doesn’t want to come back he is just mouthing words.

Only if he says he is. He would be snapped up immediately by some team seeking instant success. Urbs can afford to be picky, however, he won't go somewhere that he doesn't believe that a winnable situation exists.
