Except when you don't know that your coach is going to commit career suicide by rambling about death threats at an otherwise dull press conference. Mac doesn't get fired that week, if at all this season, if not for that bizarre press conference and follow up actions.

 

If you want Strong for this job you have low expectations.

How is that? USF has played no one close to the caliber of comp that UT played so him winning a bunch of games there this year means nothing.

From that perspective, Florida is probably one of the least desirable positions. We appear to chew coaches up and spit them out with our fan base and low tolerance for undeperformance. I imagine it places a great deal of stress on any incoming coach.

The main draw to Florida is UF clearly has the ability to quickly win national championships given the right coach, and if said coach will stay he can build a dynasty of Bama proportions. It's gonna take someone with nuts and fire who is in this for the long haul. Oh, and very thick skin.

Before I get the 'come on man' s, it's not necessarily a bad thing for Florida to be so hard to coach at. We just don't seem to care for mediocrity at this point, and once the gators catch fire under the right leader they will be a true monster.

 

Guys this thread seems to be behind what's happening elsewhere.

Chip is very probable to Florida

He has used UCLA as leverage to get what he wants. Our UAA and SS are so dense to the point where they tried to force Randy Shannon...yes that guy as a mandate for Kelly to carry on his staff. Chip's camp starts leaking UCLA stuff (and yes he is prepared to go there) to force UF admin to bend the knee to his demands.

They either will or they won't. Chip wants to be here, we are his first choice. If he isn't our coach you all know exactly where to point the finger.

If Chip isn't our head coach the entire athletic department will need to go.

So there you have it, it's a game of chicken, with Florida football on the line, a game our admin is incredibly stupid to have attempted to play. Very real possibility they screw this up, but Chip will come if he's allowed to do it his way, and if he coaches the way he negotiates we will carve up the SEC.

Leach and others have said dumber chit and not been fired. UF just being UF and wanting to save money. Which is the reason we've sucked for going on 8 years now. UCLA fired Mora even though he had a big buyout. The difference is they had someone waiting in the wings.

 

Is Chip in Florida today, checking out Gainesville and UF facilities?

All three provide insanely exciting offense. Frost is clearly choice one. Other two would still work. Kiffin would cause a ton of separation in the fan base though immediately.
