    This really makes no sense at all. If he told Striclin he was interested when they were vetting Frost, then this is the farthest from the truth as you can get.

    seems like this happpends at every coaching change here. Urban was our homerun hire that we went after and got him .

    Kelly, Frost, Norvell, Mullen, Fuente, Campbell.
    Any one of those guys and I am fine. This is not the end of the world.

    True, but that was days ago. Knowing what we know about CK, he changes his mind a lot...which is why I’m not sure how anyone can be confident on what he decides

    Really? I think you need to take a look at his track record as a DC and then take a look at the depth chart he had to work with this year. This is only the second time in his career that his defense has been ranked outside of the top 10 nationally and this is EASILY the thinnest defense he had to work with.

    completely disagree my man... if Shannon is what's holding up the possibility of Kelly signing with UF, then I'd put Randy on the next bus to Coral Gables with a one way ticket. There's plenty of good recruiters out there and only one Chip.

    honestly I don't even believe that's an issue though, it would just be a dumb move by Stricklin and I can't see him jeopardizing the hire with that kind of stuff.

    And yet, he couldn't get anyone else to hire him as DC from 2011 through 2016. His only other DC experience was with those ridiculously stacked Miami teams. I've watched his scheming closely. He's a poor tactician. He's reliant on talent. I want someone who makes the talent appear better than they are, not someone who does the opposite.

    Take your point about merits of individuals. Not debating the value of any particular staffer.

    But the politicians gotta let the generals fight the war on the battlefield. Hire a leader and give him the resources to win including decision authority for strategy and tactics (which includes personnel).

    Do not micro-manage. Do not handcuff.

    If you believe a coach is worth $5mill+/yr, then trust that he is smart enough to identify the staff he needs. If you want him to keep a staffer for some other reason then "the other reason" is the problem.
