Just out of curiosity, why would you think there's nothing to fret about when the ESPN tweet just said he's chosing between us and ucla? More doubt there than just a done deal...

 

Perhaps.

But if we had nothing in the works, then we probably go with the OV, show off the Swamp against arch rival. Seems like it would be better to try to keep our recruits interested and engaged, than take the risk of no OV at all from them, which is exactly what we're doing--you don't do that, unless you feel pretty good about having a follow up with them.

Chip Kelly announces he's the new head coach at UCLA. Scott Stricklin announces he's the new AD at St. Johns River State College.

 

UF negotiates with CK. CK says this is what I want. UF says ok. UF flies up to get the signature. In the meantime CK’s agent and attorney want him to wait due to the SF contract. Avoid useless law suits etc. by waiting. UF gets to Chips place. He says I need to wait a week. SS says that’s ok, we didn’t really want to make an announcement until the season is over next week. But you are coming, right? Yes, I’m coming but my agent will fly out to UCLA to make things look above board, it is strictly a precautionary matter. You may even hear I’m interested in UCLA. UF says Ok. We will announce you next Sunday and get the pub from NFL all day. Chip says that sounds good, I’ll start putting my staff together. UF leaves. SS on the plane decides to cover his bases and continue behind the scene contact with plan B and C. I don’t believe it will go to plan D in any case. So Scott, how do we handle all the recruits coming in this week? We should get them to wait

 

Couple arguments I’ll try to debunk

1. FYI, IMO the argument Kelly doesn’t like a fish bowl where everyone knows you and small towns is just bogus. Somehow people have translated the fact that he coached at Oregon to liking LA.

Where is he living now? Right now he can live ANYWHERE he wants (can easily live in NYC for example). He lives in a small town, basically his hometown, in New Hampshire. I guarantee you everyone knows who he is. That is far, far, far more similar to Gainesville than LA.

2. He wants a low pressure job, etc. Kelly wanted to try his hand in the NFL. This isnt a guy that shies away from competition. In reality it’s a guy that craves competition at the highest level. Outside of the NFL, what is the next highest level? The SEC

 

Sad really. I’m assuming they are adults, but that might be questionable. Definitely some insecurities showing.

 

All I know is that I'm wearing a jacket right now at 7am and I'll be lounging by the pool in a few hours getting my tan on before I fly home to my parents in Florida tomorrow.

 

Because I already anticipated several stories to come out daily between now and this weekend.

 

One of my thoughts, 2nd if he did go to la why doesn't the media give them the scrutiny of not signing a deal like they have with us. 3rd why did he get on a plane to hear a pitch when its reported he reached out to us.. 4th it was reported yesterday that ucla flew big wigs to him how does two credible sources be so wrong..

I think u have things pretty lined up even if it's not chip. We won't be starting for SQ 1 if chip says no. This will go pretty quickly regardless.
