My ONLY source of info on coaching search is message boards. However, based on deductive reasoning I'd be willing to wager a good bit that Chip Kelly is going to be our next Head Coach. The naysayers, doubters and Debbie Downers do keep me entertained till that becomes a reality.

UCLA seems to have been aggressive. We waited weeks to get serious with a Kelly, when he was available day one. You snooze, you lose.

My guess is that if you gals sashay on over to the Pub, this thread will likely die a slow, premature death. Half the entertainment value here is the subtly sexual (not a nickname for our AD), provocative banter you provide. You two keeping it up provides some here to likewise keep it up...(pun perhaps?).

that's how I took it, so it validates Fawbush tweet. I don't see why Chip would verbal then back out knowing what jobs likely come open

Yeah he didn’t exactly come into an ideal situation in Oregon. They are naturally at a disadvantage for recruiting and throw some bad on the field years into the mix and some average classes even by their standards and Oregon takes a bit of time to get up to snuff. Most coaches year 1 don’t get the ship turned around.

That said, even though we shouldn’t expect a 10-2 season next year regardless of our coach, Kelly might be the only one that could make that happen.

Chip is our guy. We are just working behind the scenes on securing assistants and deflecting attention on the search elsewhere.

I've liked Holgerson for a long time. Wanted him before Muschamp. Heard he likes the sauce a little too much though. Leach is character and a great coach but have reservations about a guy like that at UF. There's probably a good reason he's never gotten an opportunity yet at a blue-blood school..

Chip Kelly agreed to become the Bucs head coach.....until he decided to stay at Oregon.

Chip Kelly answers to no one and does things at his own pace.

No proof that he wasn't taken seriously to begin with. If the insiders are right and the contract is 300 pages long then it's going to take a while to write up

That's why I said he would need a strong staff. With a strong staff, I could be a head coach. I could devote my time to trying to keep players out of trouble. I wouldn't even have to recruit. I would hire Ron Zook for that.

Stop. He was a failure at Oakland, Tennessee, and USC. He's now shown he can compete at the pee-wee level of college football, but why would we want a 3x failure who is also an immature ass?

I like Campbell but Gundy would be expensive and has some fleas. I like his swagger and offenses but I’ve seen him lose too many games where they score 40+ points. Throw in T Boone Pickens money and us courting Gundy would just land him a bigger payday in OSU and we’d have more egg on our face.

Matt Campbell is a pretty impressive up and comer though, it would be interesting to see what he could do. Though many Gator fans would see it as another Mac-ensue hire.

Translation.....you don't know what has or has not transpired and decided to make assumptions

Simple fact is, 3 weeks to identify candidates, narrow field, and go thru an incredibly detailed contractual process is not "snoozing." . It is actually a very expedited process given all the variables.
I have no idea where ucla is in their process, when they started, or if they are proceeding with reasonable diligence. I suspect you don't know either
