Update: Kelly buzz..."The Thread" Hall of Fame bound.

I described to my wife my Chip Kelly related mood swings. Calm turns to anxiety turns to irrational stress turns to resigned calm again.

She thinks I'm PMSing.

 

UCLA has bigger donors, has LA, and is not a fish bowl job.

But in terms of football and winning, UF is a much better job.

And those historical rankings are clickbait. They are fun, but they mean nothing.

 

I was living in SoCal the last time ucla had national title asperations( I think , I don't think they've been up there since) and the infamous U and edgerin james completely wiped the field with them as a major underdog .i told all my buds pregame that southern boys are a different breed. Football down south and football in SoCal just isn't comparable. A house divided down here is on a whole different level than if you have spouses that are USC / ucla grads. They just don't understand what sec football really is. They are casual fans. Football is life here.

 

The fact that Miami is barely ahead of UCLA is hilarious. Titles are all that matters, and the 'Canes blow the Bruins away in that regard.

UCLA doesn't even care about football. Let's be honest, they know we really want Kelly and this is their way of being petty over us owning them in basketball...

Does he want to collect a paycheck and have very little stress or does he want his name spoken in the same breathe as the top coaches of this generation . It's really that simple. I wouldn't knock the guy for going out west and relaxing a bit while his bank account grows into a legacy for every newborn Kelly for generations to come. SOS did it. But he had already put his name on the Rushmore of college football. Kelly has unfinished business and some juice left in his tank I believe.

 

When I lived in Virginia I used to tell my friends the same thing. "Y'all really don't know what it's like. Go down to Florida, Georgia, Alabama, yadayadayada and then come back and tell me about it."

 

Yes but, having a staff in place to interact with this class very shortly may be more important. Not sure which kids have how many officials left. An event in the next week or two could turn out to be pretty big even without a game. Those kids need to be together with the coaches

 

Exactly. I was at a bama uf game at a friends house in the mid 90s(house divided), we were killing bama by the third quarter and the wife threw us all out of the house( get the f#*#out of my house). Husband and the entire party has to watch the second half through the sliding glass door . We weren't surprised either, it's perfectly understandable. We are talking sec football here.

A pissing contest between UF and UCLA or any other school for that matter is silly. Kelly could care less, as long as his new job is at a P5 school with a history of excellent support and he gets the amount of control he needs to succeed. Who wouldn't have the same criteria?
