Three possible scenarios IMO.

One (my biggest hope): everything is settled and we are doing things slower than what we want for personal and/or financial reasons. I read a bit about Kelly needing to wait until the end of the season to keep a $5M payout from SF. Kind of weird but if it is correct then it makes sense. Where I don't get it is...how are they keeping it all under wraps?

Two: Kelly has been played as well as possible and we are in the clubhouse with a damn nice score. But he is waiting to see the last player or two before he engraves our name on the trophy. And in my mind he has a narrow window to do this. If he waits too long then we are out....by our choice.

Three: we want a sizzle hire, Kelly is the biggest sizzle out there - probably a Big Booster mandate - and the UAA and administration is doing their due diligence based on the marching orders from the real players who write the real checks. We are "all in" because the players want it that way and if Kelly pulls a Kelly (he is strange) then we are stuck being WAY behind other programs. And to be honest, it puts us right up there with Tennessee: delusional. And it puts Sticky and Fuches in a VERY bad light, even though they took one for the team.

This is just my opinion and piecing some things together...

1. Neither the UF side or the Chip Kelly side has outright said anything regarding a deal at this point (no news is good news in this case).

2. UF has cancelled the recruits visiting this weekend for the FSU game. There is no chance that they would do this if they didn't already have a plan in place for all the recruits to come and visit the new coach before the early signing deadline. If there was no coach in place, they wouldn't take this risk.

3. UF has no reports of being in contact with anyone else for the job. If they weren't 100% on Chip Kelly, there would be at least something about them contacting other coaches (possibly unemployed coaches) as the early signing deadline is drawing closer and they would lose out on another week just waiting on Kelly to "make up his mind".

 

The allure is getting the proven mentor, not gambling on the very exciting protegee.

I haven't seen anything regarding UF cancelling recruits' visits this weekend. Are you referring to Matt Corral allegedly saying he won't travel to Florida if there isn't a coach named by Friday?

 

Not a fan of sushi either. Always look at it as bait. Guess that comes from too much fishing in the gulf.

Also prefer meat cooked a bit. Perhaps an ode to my ancestors who took the time to discover fire.

 

I think that is in part due to our 1b guy still coaching his team and not entertaining offers until his season ends. So yeah, all in on CK at the moment.

 

The rumor is that SS wants recruits to use their visits to meet the new coach so no recruits will be here this weekend.
