i think it is a done deal, but people have had to backtrack so that it doesn't take the wow factor out of an official announcement. no way fuchs goes to nh with all those people last night if he doesn't already know what's happening. also think all the ucla stuff is just to do a solid for kelly's agent who went to ucla. professional courtesy, etc. probably some contract stuff with nfl payments to iron out, may be date sensitive. i wouldn't think there's a presser for kelly until this weekend or next monday.
Edgar (Orlando Sentinel) is predicting Chip to the Gators. He is currently on 930 Sports Radio (Jacksonville) talking about this. His points: Believes they are working through the contact details, particularly making sure his contract lines up and causes no complications with all of the NFL money he is owed Doubts Chip is on his way to LA today to talk to UCLA (as has apparently been reported some places) Unsure about UCLA willingness to pay up after spending $12M to let go of Mora (although some have said this is precisely why they'd pay up -> don't pay all that money unless you are going after a big fix) Honestly surprised that Edgar is this positive about it
Everyone is driven by money. I work with celebrities that have enough money to live 50 lifetimes very comfortably who never pick up the check. Also, if money didn’t matter, he wouldn’t be pitting schools against each other, he would decide where he wants to go, and go there. The secondary buy out, should it come to that is an incentive to make more money and all for the cost of doing nothing and being fired. I am sure any school would want to work it in that a buy out takes over the SF buyout to remove that incentive but then again, he has a lot of bargaining power. It would be an odd thing to have being fired be monetarily beneficial but it so often is in this sport.
I don't know, it almost seemed to me that Buddy had to introduce himself, like "hey, it's me, Buddy!".
And a Sunday announcement can do one of two things: if we beat FSU we carry momentum forward and if we lose the announcement deflects attention and gets everyone focused on the future.
I agree 100%. All about the money. Ex wife- let's make it an amicable divorce, for the kids sake. Me- let's do this thing! Her- but only if you give me everything you've got and all your income for the next 100 years
This may be redundant since I haven't looked at this thread since early yesterday evening, but my guess is that Kelly and his agent are playing UCLA and Florida against each other to maximize his contract.
