Update: Kelly buzz..."The Thread" Hall of Fame bound.

Yall this thing has gone from a few embers to billowing plumes of smoke. I think we have our coach folks

 

Wrong. You know I never said I know now.

 

While Kelly isn't my first choice, it certainly would be the type of splash hire we need to not only hold the recruiting class together but to just crush it in recruiting. Very reminiscent of the Harbaugh hire for Michigan got them going again quickly

 

Kelly wasn't my first choice, but I'll be totally honest - at least a portion of that reticence was based on the fact that I presumed he wouldn't be interested. If he is all-in, and genuinely committed, I think we'd be pretty stupid not to make him our next head coach unless the guy Stricklin wants (Frost?) has unequivocally made clear he will accept the job.

Regardless of the bits that have been said about his demeanour etc, Kelly is the clearest of antidotes to our offensive poisons of the past decade. There can be no doubting that he'd fix the offense - demeanour was something I liked about Mac when he was appointed and I'm now starting to think it's overrated... Just win!

ESPN fired Dan Kannell during their first round of layoffs earlier in the year.

 

When I found out about it yesterday afternoon the person who told me expect the announcement within a few days. Man, I sure hope its true.

As soon as they told me it appeared on Scout.com.

 

Good. Not that I watch ESPN anymore but just knowing hes gone feels good. He's such a douche.

 

Would Kelly even want to move to Gainesville? It's hot in FL and it seems like an odd fit for him culturally. Don't get me wrong... I would love to have him at UF. I'd be excited for Florida football again.

 

In terms of getting the SEC's approval, I have to wonder if the SEC being a little down right now from what it was a few years ago
as far as coaching goes may have facilitated Kelly getting the approval needed. This doesnt just help us, it raises the quality of the overall conference and helps restore some balance between the two divisions.

 

The slide of the conference back to the pack would definitely grease the wheels here. The loss of Miles, Freeze, and Franklin really dropped the bottom out of the brand on the coaching side. The boys in the SEC office can't be thrilled with all the BIG coach love and definitely are going to deal well with the ACC stepping ahead.

 

Agree with 100%. Surprised for sure, but a no-brainier if CK is all in.

 

We are just checking out all of Frosts listed references and employers before we hire...

 

Kelly vs Saban in the SEC CG would be must see TV.

 

UF replacing Bammer at the top of the conference when Nick retires in a few years.....even better.

Two or three things come to mind. First, is he still "on the books" as it relates to "stuff" that happened at Oregon? Is that something we want? Second, is he contrite as to what he endured in the NFL and is prepared to be the next SOS? Great if that is the case and damn messy if he thinks this is a setup for the next run...OR he thinks he can run the program "his way no matter what." The last thing? has Stricklin sent a strong message that HE is in charge and not the football HC? If he has and the first two issues are not in play then.....welcome aboard!
