That’s pretty damn exciting. If we get CK, we’ll give even Saban a run for his money recruiting. It’s a better college hire than even Harbaugh was for UM, or close to it. Would be a nice patch on our wounds at least.

I heard years after the fact from someone inside at UAA that Stoops was a done deal and he changed his mind / backed out. Like BillyD and the Magic.

 

I hope Tilly is right, and definitely no disrespect in that direction. I can't believe the only ones who would be on to this are in the UF circle -- especially given the post frenzy over the last 36 hours on these (and other) boards.

I don't get the love for Kelly. The guy was great at Oregon but left when the team went on probation right? When the going gets tough ..... bail.

So he goes to the Philadelphia Eagles and has two 10-6 seasons and then a 6-9 season gets him fired with a game to go. Two winning seasons should have bought him at least another season right? The Eagles must have been tired of some kind of shenanigans from him.

On to the San Francisco 49ers where he is run after one 2-14 season. If you are a known coach don't you get more than 16 games with a team with little talent? What did he do to get run that quick?

So my point is, the guys leaves everywhere with a bad taste. The mighty Florida Gators don't need to settle for a once hot college coach with a lot of baggage and a questionable attitude.

 

Stricklin is satisfied by the vetting of Kelly.

 

He had a knack for adamantly projecting Bob Stoops as Florida’s next coach multiple times and being way too flowery in his writing (which always annoyed the crap out of me). You really missed out.

The NCAA thing is so overblown, it's so small it doesn't matter. And of all the college to pro coaches, Spurrier, Saban, Carroll, etc. Kelly had some of the best success.

People love him because he has an 87% winning percentage in college, and throws out unbelievable offenses. I'm so excited, Florida is back to being fun again, folks. Just load up on awesome recruiters and let Kelly's offensive mind take over.
