Things don't always go as YOU plan. Deal could be done too and they are waiting to announce for a multitude of reasons. I'm sure recruiting primadonnas are not a top priority right now.

 

Yep. I'm a fairly skeptical guy who has lived long enough to spot empty hype but even I see this delay in denial as some indication that there must be a there there.

If a CK deal was out of the question, that would be determinable fairly quickly and, thereafter, no reason you wouldn't come out and say it ... especially as you watch this fever of expectation build (and Amazon pitchfork orders ready to explode).

I hope kelly holds out for everything he wants as far as staffing, facilities, etc. that will ensure our future success. What's good for him is good for us.

But if it helps, Creature Comforts and Terrapin and both very good breweries out of Athens and neither is associated with UGA. Terrapin guys are from Maryland and Creature Comforts was started by guys from Atlanta (1 from Sweetwater, which is a pretty good Atlanta brewery). Think they just opened in Athens for cheap space and a captive college buying base.

 

How would we know they haven't stopped the process? Do we? I'm a bit lost. Regardless of who are next coach is we will not know how good a hire it was for a few seasons. I realize what we seek is a hire that tells us everything is going to be just fine.

Exactly. I don't remember the fanbase being less torn apart since the Meyer era. We have a very united focus at the moment

 

trying to think through the benefit of Stricklin tactfully denying this....or is their any benefit to CK still being a possible candidate if he's after other coaches? He could say something like " Chip is an innovator and an ICON, as is the University of Florida, but for this search mutually we will both explore other opps"

But for Chip Kelly, if he wants another job the possiblitity of UF is huge leverage in negotiations w say UT, TAM, UCLA etc

Not to mention that some of the HS prima donnas on the list now might not be built for what Chip runs. I’m no expert but I’d imagine the skilz are not universal.

 

Kelly supposedly still has a great relationship with Phil Knight (Nike) and we are already a Nike school. Very well possible that relationship gets milked for some more bling in the locker rooms and such.

Chip and his agency are well known/connected. There are hundreds of reporters that relationships with them.

You would think that if they had a denial scoop (like Grudens) they would jump all over it.
