I believe that Scott would have been more direct with his denials IF we were where Darren is hinting (i.e., we haven't talked to anyone... yeah right!) for his own job security. He is being coy, and enjoying the hype. I seriously doubt he wants to let the hype get to where it is if he hasn't got things close.

He didn't say we haven't spoken with anyone. He said they haven't made the decision that Chip is the guy.

 

Translation Darren is full of shit. He claims we haven't talked to anyone? That should be your first clue he hasn't a clue what he is talking about.

 

I'm fairly certain that yesterday he tweeted out we hadn't even talked to anyone yet. But I could be wrong... lots of tweeting going on....

 

Kelly is a master of details ... some things to think about that aren't going to be done in a day:

Kelly negotiated a luxury box at Oregon for his pals from NH - think about that and the kind of details he might be dealing with.

He'll want to see facilities and meet support staff.

Taking a look at current roster and commit list.

Contract & Incentive details and obligations off the field.

Lawyers/agents to deal with.

Meet with UF officials including at least talking with Spurrier.

He's buddies with Urban Meyer so will likely lean on him to get the down low about boosters, etc.

Talking to a few potential future staff prospects - OC, DC, etc.

......

 

Again, he said they haven't made a final decision, not not talked to anyone.

If this is going on and the possibility of Big Donor Boosters making waves because that want Charlie Strong there will be a very large block of Gator fans, boosters,etc. that will be very disappointed and the fall out could be worse than upsetting a power hungry booster.

 

To be fair, I don't think @tilly or @BenTrillGriffin have ever used the words "done deal."
