Rather have Frost than Kelly... Kelly won't be here more than a few years, what's the point. I don't want to do this AGAIN in three more years for the third time.

Now once again, who have they beat worth a damn?

 

Who did they beat two years ago? No one - 0-12. It isn't who have they beaten worth a damn, it's the fact that he took a team from 0-12 to undefeated playing the same teams and with mostly the same players that went 0-12.

 

Is this somehow an indictment against Justin Fuente? You do know that half of our fan base wants to hire the 2017 version of Justin Fuente.

 

Oregon lost 3 total scholarships in 3 years. We lost more than that with injuries and piss poor coaches not keeping players in check this year alone. The next person to throw “show cause” at Kelly should get a dunce cap on their username.

 

Frost could leave for Nebraska in the same amount of time. Fuente could try his hand at the NFL in that time span. Mullen’s wife could leave him for an Orlando lawyer so she can finally grocery shop closer to home. What else can we speculate about?

 

If we get a couple of championships from Chip like we got from Meyer.... and Chip leaves after 6 season's like Meyer.... I would be satisfied with that

 

Of course Frost could... but Kelly always talks about NFL being easier on his time since there is no recruiting needed. Does that someone that sounds like he suddenly wants to recruit, or does it sound like someone just wants to be in the limelight and get his name out there attached to our job.

 

And some in our fan base want Gruden.... Fuente is not looking impressive at VT so far.

 

Losing in the NFL is hard time.

 

He hasn't finished year two. Would you rather see a coach come out of the gates like Brady Hoke?

 

Solution, bring back Zook as lead recruiter and Kelly's job just got exponentially easier.

I hope he wants to get in the limelight and build his legacy up. We are exactly the school to help him do that. Add some more conference and national title years to the orange walls and we’ll get him a statue on his way out to coach the Dolphins. I would much rather have that than some Richt like 12-15 years of almosts and mediocrity just to have the same dude at booster events.

 

Considering Kelly's time at Oregon / Nike, I would not be surprised to see UF get a new outfitter like UA perhaps, with UA putting in massive amounts of money for facilities. I anticipate Phil and Nike trying to give UF some raw deals, not liking Kelly being here. May prompt UF to ditch Nike. UA would benefit 10x more from being tied to UF than to Maryland.

 

One thing you could take away from reading all the threads the last couple of days. Whoever the coach, there will be some unhappy people.

Those of us preferring Kelly are not going to be upset with a Frost hire. But the old timers wanting to date Frost are going to be upset with the Kelly hire.

 

I will throw it out there.

As fans it is very easy to dismiss Kelly's show cause. But as an institution any coach hit with one is like being branded with a scarlet letter.
History has shown that the majority of coaches in any Big NCAA sport that gets a show clause attached to their name, never coaches in college again or is regulated to a much lower level.

Hell look at Bruce Pearl in CBB, Hit with one at TN now he is is in trouble again at Auburn.

Universities just don't rehire someone with one.

I will say it again, as fans it is easy to blow off the show clause, but not so easy for an institution.

 

I just want a competent team that can go out and compete with other quality teams and throttle lesser teams. Don’t care who’s at the helm.
