They got an absolute steal. If you factor in California's state tax and LA's cost of living, it's like getting 2.75-3M in Gainesville.
You make it sound like Kelly is some starry-eyed, impressionable high school kid and we were selling him a mobile phone. Incredibly naive statement. Kelly is a quirky and savvy guy who knows what he wants. He just wanted something other than UF. It happens.
I think that it is sad that Tilly and BTG have to defend themselves to begin with. People asked, and they let everyone know what they knew when they knew it. They don't get anything but "likes" and such for telling those who have paid absolutely nothing for the privilege what they know. You can't spend "likes". "Likes" don't pay the bills. They let us know what's going on to the best of their abilities because they're good Gators. So yeah, things didn't go as Tilly, BTG and others expected. Now people are let down. Did any of you bet the house on their information? If so, well you're stupid, because this is all on Kelly and no sour grapes, but Kelly is a loose cannon. Loose cannons roll around wreaking havoc. SS and the UAA may have screwed up, but it's easy to screw up when you're dealing with a loose cannon like Kelly. I don't know what to think about all of that. It really doesn't matter, I suppose. Anyway, for all of you people harping on Tilly and BTG, well you get what you pay for, okay? You paid... nothing. Now, sometimes, you get something for nothing. This time, not, but don't go around with your hurt feelings thinking that you were somehow ripped off or misled.
Anyway, I probably need to stop posting on this thread at some point. It only serves to remind me of the most severe case of Orange and Blue B@lls I have ever experienced in my life.
Watch Jarred Stidham and then watch Franks. A blitz and Stidham calmly hits a shallow crossing route, Franks runs sideways and then takes a sack.
Are you equalizing the level of defenses Driskell faced at LA Tech to the ones he played against at UF?
Everything posted in this thread regarding the pursuit of Kelly was a rumor, except for the trip to NH by the UAA brass.
Who is Jeff Driskel's current employer? A guy who we chased off ended up throwing for 4000+ yards and 27 TDs at Louisiana Tech before getting drafted to play in the NFL. Jacoby Brissett also got drafted and is currently a starting NFL QB. Will Grier is also going to get drafted. There is a trend here.
Gator Lawyer's comments are on track. The Bengals kept Driskel on their 53 man roster and put him on IR. They are keeping him to be their backup qb because they expect MaCarron to leave next year. If players are good enough for the NFL, they should be good enough to play well for your school-- particularly when you have an offensive line loaded with NFL players; running backs like Gilleslie and Jones; and receivers like Trey Burton (NFL), Reed (NFL), and Dunbar (starting NFL CB). Yet, our offenses were bad and we thought we needed upgrades at quarterback and on the offensive line. Go back and look at Muschamp's rosters in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and ask yourself why we could not pass--or move the ball in his last 2 years. Bad coaches can make good players look bad.
