I totally agree and this is a career defining moment for Stricklin. Kelly can suck and we won't blame Stricklin but if choice number two sucks no matter who it is, it will leave a permanent mark.

 

And can we all please stop with the "Chip or Bust" type of rhetoric.

I don't think we should handcuff him, but given his NCAA show-cause, he needs to expect slightly more oversite / scrutiny starting off.

 

At this point let's just build it from the ground up

I agree it's going to be a bad hire, but it won't be Miles.

 

I can't relate to all the negativity. We will hire a coach, and when we do, most of us will move on. No one other than the trolls will remember this, and no one, other than the trolls, will care. But I find particular entertainment in the posters who showed such skepticism over Kelly, and now still think our program is doomed. One would expect that if you were constantly prepared for the worst, you wouldn't also be the most disappointed.

 

It's exactly the same. Miss out on Frost and Kelly, become a laughing stock, and then forced to hire some mediocre coach off the waiver wire.

 

Good thing we got a 3 week jump on everybody.

 

And he knows we are in no position to make demands . It's counterproductive to appear desperate but who are we kidding. Chip knows where we stand.

 

In all honesty I hope you're joking? Because hiring a terrible coach that hasn't coached a second of cfb, or been a HC in a decade or so just to "piss off UT" would be a whole new level of stupid of epic proportions.

 

Yeah, I posted a similar comment probably a couple hundred pages back. If this is so, then I've lost all confidence in Snot Stinkin. I can't imagine a scenario where a school would try to dictate staff decisions on a top tier coach like that. Sure hope it isn't true. If it is true, we're in deep trouble with this athletic admin.

 

Chip has us over a barrel and he knows it. UAA, put your pride back in your pocket and kiss him dead in the middle of his ass.

 

Superman Sasquatch's job isn't to manage the expectations of rabid internet message board junkie weirdos like you and me. It's to do due diligence on candidates and get us a good coach. He's largely kept to his promised radio silence.

 

AND...that guy will have little leeway in getting things righted. Wait for the first brain fart on offense. The honeymoon will be OVER.
