A government employee would not be immediately suspended on an allegation. That would impede upon the rights of the accused. There would be a fact finding investigation as required by Title IX. Only if the evidence supports that the allegations would likely result in a finding consistent with the allegation would someone be suspended pending formal hearings.

    https://www.ed.gov/sites/ed/files/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/titleix-summary.pdf

False allegations do occur. I and a coworker were once accused of wild a$$ things like poisoning the individuals bottle of water with a hypodermic needle. The investigation found the individual suffered from psychological problems which lead to their dismissal.

I don't think "An Affair" would necessarily be grounds for dismissal, although it could be. Don't coaches have to sign something
akin to a "morals" clause, which in reality is a document to save the University from public embarrasment?

Personally posting, mens basketball has been an enjoyable UF sport for me to lose myself into while negotiating this crazy American life.

I hope it works out for Golden. Unless of course the charges, as currently levied, are mostly true, and if thats the case, I suspect most of Gator Basketball nation would not want his continued employment with the University.

On the other hand some sources suggest that up to 45% of American marriges experience infidelity, and, I suspect, the % is higher because those statistics are based on "admissions" - Oh Jimmy Swaggert, where art thou?

I doubt Golden is "clean" in all respects, or the accuser(s) would be facing heavy and draconian legal action if merely drumming this up from nothing.

I hate it for coach and the program and hope he survives it, well, based on the current information anyway. The detectives and the bloodhounds are on the case, much will be revealed before this is over.

I'm sorry, but this doesn't all add up. First, Golden's statement says the investigation is ongoing, and if UF has dropped the investigation they would likely have said Golden is not currently under investigation. So Franz totally lost me there.

Second, I can see the accusers going to the Alligator if they felt like UF was dragging their feet, that part makes sense if that's what happened. But Golden never implied he would pursue defamation against the Alligator, it's more likely IMO he would go after the accusers.

There's some misinformation out there and I don't know which is correct. I questioned his lack of suspension and was directed to page 30 (I think) to see that Title IX prohibits the accused of being suspended while under investigation.

Wait and see, wait and see. Franz does not like Goldens chances (situation) based on his comments on Buddy Martins podcast Friday, but he is probably just clutching at straws like the rest of us.

I asked this question as well, I can’t imagine a single affair to which Todd and his wife said we are going to work this out as a family would be grounds for dismissal unless it was continued behavior that embarrassed the university. As you said, a huge percentage of marriages have affairs and so I can’t imagine he would be let go.

I have thought it was a jilted partner since the beginning. That in and of itself could be unfair to Todd, but just how it felt to me.

I found your suggestion of this as a rope to "cling to" when it comes to seeing Todd survive. It makes sense in many respects. It may be survivable should it turn out he had a daliance and the lady in question felt injured or betrayed and decided to retaliate in the most harmful way possible.

It’s also just as possible that the accuser misread his behaviors as he was interested, became herself obsessed, and this is her way of attempting to get back at him for setting her straight. None of us know the facts, but the clues seem to indicate he will continue to coach at UF.

After watching that clip, I'm impressed at how Andy Staples can say nothing while sounding like he's actually saying something, and get paid for it.

It’s an art form most of our social media based media has mastered. No idea why people latch on to these folks and circulate the nonsense.

Or even watch in the first place. I'd much rather watch cat videos and 70's era Grateful Dead.
