UPDATE: Ahmaud Arbery's 3 murderers all found guilty. Sentenced to LIFE in prison.

I was thinking the same thing but there is a port-a-toilet in the front yard.

 

I'm not a builder, never been on a construction site, but I don't care if Arbery ran out of the house carrying a brand new gold toilet from the Trump Collection, chasing him down and killing him was just plain murder.

 

There is a video that's been released by the GBI. There is a link for it a few pages back. It certainly appears Arbery went inside the house. It is also noteworthy that within a matter of 2 minutes or so from time he entered the house, there had already been two cops drive through the area. Which goes back to my previous point that you don't call the cops ahead of time when you're about to murder someone. But again, we'll see how it plays out. The point is this is playing out completely different from the narrative we were told up front.

 

Arbery didn't "break into" anything and the Mcmichaels have zero evidence Arbery committed a single felony. At worst, the entering of an open home under construction is a misdemeanor, and one that if an actual cop saw Arbery on the premises, a crime Arbery would likely not be arrested after Arbery explained he lives in the neighborhood, was out for his regular jog, and was curious because he wants to become an electrician.

The McMichaels had zero legal right to stop Arbery, let alone hunt him firedrum and kill him. Even if the McMichaels saw Arbery in the construction house. Georgia law only permits a citizen arrest for known or seen felonies.

Had Arbery been white, would have he been chased and shot by the McMichaels? We may never know, but it's hard not to bring race into question when it seems the McMichaels saw a black man enter a house under construction, start jogging away, and figured hev was guilty of something.

This is felony murder. The attempted citizen's arrest was illegal, and felony assault. And as a result of the McMichael's criminal action, a man died.

 

Who is arguing that it's not murder?

 

If he was white, he would have been greeted with "you lookin' to buy?"

 

Just to be clear, neither of these guys was the builder. Also, neither of these guys owned the house under construction. You are justifying two guys running down and using deadly force on a person for walking on a construction site (that was not their construction site or home)? What is the penalty for a kid cutting across your lawn on the way home from school? Death too? Hell, my wife looks at homes being built all the time - never knew she should be chased down and confronted with a gun, and maybe shot, in some folks' view. Oh, that is right, the rules are different for a white female.

As an aside, I do not know if the mcmichaels are racist or not, and do not care. What they did was absurd no matter the color of the defendant. However, it would be interesting for you to address your comment comparing Ahmaud (at worst a trespasser in a house under construction to ALL our knowledge) with a drug dealer shot after a drug deal gone bad. Do you stand by this factually incorrect, incredibly insensitive, and race-baiting analogy? You seem very eager to defend the mcmichaels' actions and attack Ahmaud's behavior....

 

When I was a kid of 10 we were building a tree house. There was a house under construction nearby. One thing led to another and the 2nd story collapsed into the basement. It was probably bad workmanship

 

What percentage of wrongdoing would you assign to the McMichaels and how much to Arbery?

 

If he was white.....no one would even be discussing this situation. It wouldn't even make the news....lol....

 

I know, because nothing would have happened ... the cops wouldn’t have been a called and a posse wouldn’t have been formed, he wouldn’t have been confronted on the streets with a shotgun, he’d have gone about his jog and no one would have given it a second thought.

 

If he was white, there would be no situation and it certainly doesn’t warrant an LOL.

Muhammad surrendered to police after he fired 17 shots in less than a minute at four Fresno locations in an area near the city's office of Catholic Charities, authorities have said.

The Fresno police chief said at the time that Muhammed is a racist who planned "to kill as many white males as possible," and who advocated for the creation of a separate country for all of the United States' non-white residents.

Zackary David Randalls, 34, of Clovis, and Mark James Gassett, 37, and David Martin Jackson, 58, both of Fresno, were killed in the attack.

 

At the time, Muhammad was wanted in connection with the shooting death of Carl Williams, 25, a security guard at a Motel 6, a week prior.

The convictions handed down Wednesday relate to all four killings. Muhammad in March testified that he killed all four people and that in the downtown Fresno shootings, he had planned to kill white men.

I don't mean to speak for the poster you quoted, but the contention would be that there's a threshold of opposing behavior necessary before people might gang up in a trio, jump in some trucks loaded with guns, and stalk a person. You see, an intelligent person goes into this scenario with the understanding that a shooting may result from their own actions and that one or more individuals may die. That understanding dictates (again, for intelligent people) that a threshold of criminal or other nefarious activity be attained prior to engaging in these behaviors. Given the information we have, Arbery's actions did not come anywhere near that threshold.

I must have missed the part where he got away with it for 4 months because he was friends with the DA.
