What new facts have come out? Arbery entering an under construction house and his criminal record have been part of the story from the beginning. Neither means he wasn't murdered.

The fact that anybody is still defending the Georgia racists after they were arrested and denied bond for murder says more about that person's character than the merits of the case.

This is incorrect. We knew the McMichaels CLAIMED Arbery entered the home, but we didn't have a video to prove it. Yes, it was talked about, but in fact many people actually doubted it. Re-read the thread, I suggest.

Oh to be a redneck! Then
I'd use my truck and gun
to go arrest a black man when
    someone has seen him run
for who knows then what kind of crime
    as surely come to pass
black men aren't joggers, every time
    they're simply hauling ass

Louisville just making shit up as usual just to be contrarian. From the very first post it was said the McMichaels had witnessed Arbery "looking into" an under construction building. Now it's his fault he got murdered. This is sick stuff.

So, your contention is that if Arbery truly had been just an innocent jogger and had never trespassed on another property or went inside another property, that the McMichaels still would have tracked him down and shot him?

Well, seeing as how they lied about the string of break ins and didn't even personally see him come out of a building then yeah, it could have happened. The senior McMichael had a pistol stolen from his unlocked car and they had surveillance of Arbery jogging through the neighborhood a few times at night. I think they would have confronted him eventually and it could have ended the same way. They chose to bring the guns and they chose to call the non emergency line of the sherrifs dept. I don't think they set out to murder him but they definitely didn't set out to talk to him like they claim. He was on foot and they were in a truck. We will all get more info when this thing goes to trial.

How do we know there were no previous break ins? Have the local law enforcement confirmed this? It seems rather odd for an ex-cop to make such a claim that would be so easily debunked by his former employer. McMichael left his car unlocked, so naturally, he's at fault for his pistol getting stolen, right? Not the actual thief? And your reasoning behind knowing they weren't going to just talk to him because they took a truck is full of loopholes as well. Is it reasonable to think an elderly man and his son would be able to catch up to a younger jogger on foot? Of course, they would have taken a truck, even if their intentions were totally pure. They're not going to go after a jogger on foot who has a head start.

But you never really answered my question. My question was that if Arbery hadn't been breaking into the house prior to, would this have happened? And unless you can answer that with a 100% certainty that yes, they would have still chased him down and killed him regardless, then by default, you're leaving open the possibility that some blame lie at Arbery's feet. That doesn't mean he wasn't murdered. But the idea that Arbery was this totally innocent guy who was just out for a jog is long gone. The prior run-ins with the law, along with his trespassing and entering a new construction home immediately preceding the shooting indicate that he put himself in a bad situation. Again, that doesn't mean the McMichaels are innocent. As you said, we'll get more info.

I would appreciate it though if you wouldn't say I'm being contrarian just to be contrarian. I'm not the only one who's going to ask these questions the more this gets looked at. We are, after all, supposed to give the benefit of the doubt to the accused in this country. They are very valid questions and yes, I do think breaking into a home, whether inhabited or not inhabited is a very bad bad idea. Here in Kentucky, someone enters my home, I can take them out immediately. No questions asked. It's called the castle law. While this isn't the same thing, the idea here is that breaking into homes, committing crime, knowingly trespassing on property is a real good way to find yourself in a lot of trouble. And let's not kid ourselves. That he didn't take anything from the house is besides the point. He didn't go in there to take a leak.

Sorry but people who think they can walk through someone else's house under construction have a lot of gall.

    It's very disrespectful.

Get permission and you are fine - otherwise you are acting like a schmuck.

I don’t think I’ve ever claimed it was best. It’s what humans do. I mean your embarrassing posts in the Rona thread are powerful reminders that our initial opinions can be silly. Oh, say, why were you posting on that thread at all? Did you think all the Rona info was in?

When the house is that stage of construction, with no doors and windows, no one is leaving anything of value around to be stolen.

North Carolina says they won't take this story lying down: "Hold my beer."

Armed 'mob' allegedly tried to enter black family's North Carolina home, white deputy charged

When a story like the one from Georgia comes across the wire in a nearby state, don't the sheriffs normally sit their officers down for a talk about following procedures, getting a warrant, putting on their uniforms, having the armed mob wait at the street, etc.? Or is it, "All right cowboys, let's get out there and provide some frontier justice--Git-R-Done! Yeehaw!"

He is not being contrarian. This is how these people genuinely feel. It’s the black guys fault. He should have been submissive and not dared fight for his life.
