Here is the full page I took the screenshot from. I didn't manipulate anything and readily admit I wasn't aware of his rushing stats which still doesn't absolve the horrid completion percentage against 2-10 combined record opponents one of which was utah tech. Doubt anyone knows where that is and what level of football they play. It’s basically community College level football.

I didn't manipulate anything but keep fighting whatever perceived war you seem to be having over this guy.

His last and only chance to make money playing football as he’s not an NFL prospect. You can’t expect these one year rental mercenaries to have loyalty to a team.

It’s more about the no restrictions on transferring and not having to sit out than it is NIL. There are no consequences for transferring at all.

NIL is right in principle - especially for NCAA 'Stars'.

In practice, it will create a generation of players unashamedly looking out for themselves before thinking about their teams.

It's not like this couldn't have been foreseen. I also don't blame the kid - that's a lot of money.

I would if I was received free tuition, dorm, food, trainers, coaches, tutors, and maybe another $100,000 on top of that. What was he already receiving? I would be asking for their NILs financial statement at the get go.who was his attorney?

Right. Since some are ignoring the college part of collegiate athletics and just calling it working for free do programs that don't make money shut down? All programs not just football? All those other athletes are working for free right?

Supposedly, an assistant coach promised him $100K in December of 2023. He was recruited by the UNLV offensive coordinator. When he arrived on campus in the summer, his agent (Marcus Cromartie) pressed the coaches about the promised money. They told him to see the NIL collective. The collective said they never agreed to any deal with Sluka but would get him $3,000/mo or $12,000 total....not the $100K he claims to have been promised by the recruiting coach.
    • Cromartie says you can't sign anything until you enroll with the school. (I don't know if that's true or not)
    • The agent is not registered in the State of Nevada but works for Equity Sports, the same firm that represents Patrick Mahomes and Graham Mertz.
    • The CEO of Blueprint Sports (UNLV Collective) would not negotiate with Cromartie because he wasn't a registered agent.
I'm curious as to when Sluka retained representation. Coming from Holy Cross, he most likely didn't have a clue about NIL and may have hired representation after having issues with the disparity in money.

Matthew Sluka leaves UNLV over $100K NIL dispute amid growing tensions in college football's pay-for-play era

I can see that in many instances like I would never sit out a bowl game, but I can certainly understand Anthony Richardson as in injury prone as he is sitting out for his $26 million payday.

I understand that this will be more of a thing moving forward, but this wouldn’t be a story if UNLV wasn’t undefeated and talking about making the CFP.

A team with that schedule as it stands shouldn't be in discussion for playoffs but that's for another argument.

Or, even better, allow them to make money off using and licensing their name recognition. We could call it something like Name, Image and Likeness.

Much better than having weird old dudes pay for play. Plus players could sue the third party for nil contract fulfillment. Then players go back to student athletes and schools can have eligibility rules.

You posted his stats to comment on his not being deserving of 100k. Clearly his rushing is a significant portion of his production so whether malicious or not, it was ignorant.
