University of Florida President Ben Sasse Announces Resignation

Full disclosure, I almost rated this as dislike to see if anyone would get the joke......

Not what I wanted to hear. Maybe they have some knowledge that this is a short term situation and Sasse intends to return?

 

I hope "move back you suck" doesn't get banned again :|

 

Fuch's was an obvious choice to interim. He is still here as a professor in engineering, so it would make for an easy transition to interim

Just please don't ban mbys

 

I would assume it’s more like Sasse feels the need to step down immediately, so they need someone to handle the post during the search.

 

I have meet Fuch several times and have talked with him..I like him..the last time I spoke with him he was more relaxed and very personable...the students seemed to like him..
Didn't get a chance to meet Sasse...so no opinion there

 

2 weeks notice doesn't leave a lot of time.

 

That is pretty disappointing to hear. He was no friend to the Sports program and made more than a few strategic errors in his previous tenure. I was happy to see him go and not thrilled to hear he may come back.

 

No.

Heard from folks inside UF that Sasse was in a power struggle over refurbishment of his office space in Tigert Hall; Sasse lost. Also heard that people found him difficult to work with.

This is all in the take it for what it's worth category.

But it is odd that he departs so abruptly, given the disclosures about his wife's health issues, which have been long standing. Seems like his wife would benefit more from home health care, than him quitting his job. But. if that was his sole reason for stepping down, then I can understand. Family comes first.

 

Power struggle over an office renovation? Seems odd. I can imagine some are resistant to change and would consider someone trying to make change "difficult".

 

The implication was that this was just the latest power struggle.

But, again, take it for what it is worth.

How silly. We’re fans on a message board. We’re certainly within our boundary conditions to discuss important events and speculate together what and why. Only condition in my mind is that we’re respectful of the people we’re discussing — unless of course we’re discussing people from rival schools

 

Ben Sasse has short arms...thats how you get dislikes!
