Only upside to this is - hopefully - we burn these and give up the UM/FSU-inspired black jersey thing. We did it. We saw it. Wasn't really that great and we got the expected outcome. Bye Bye!
More like pointing out that Capri pants look (___) on guys. Yeah, it's sort of a thing now. . . operative word being "now".
Bingo...and then tried to sell the fan base a load of B.S. about doing it to "honor the military." I wonder if the military feels honored about the display of mediocrity that UF put on the field yesterday.
Mil vet and current reservist. I despise this virtue signaling BS. So dumb. Want to honor me and “thank me for my service” (ugh that’s so cringe)? Vote for politicians who actually care where all the taxpayer money we waste on the military ends up. Bring back a draft and force women to register for the selective service (we’re all equal, you go girl!), so that maybe your average citizen will have a little skin in the game. The whole “we’re wearing black uniforms with silly concepts in lieu of names on the back to support the troooooops!!!!!!” is so ridiculous. Shut up, work harder, don’t lose at home to a winless SEC team that’s in free fall and save another near-terminated coach’s job.
Soo..I shall write to our congressmen, and our governor, and tell them that our servicemen are offended by my university honoring them, but failing to win the game. Would that make you happy?
if the players liked it, I’m all for it. Lots of college kids wearing black yesterday. They seem to like the idea. maybe have it for game two against a Patsy opponent. what I don’t get is how some fans get so outraged or angry over something like this. They tried it mixed results, onward. did it cost this team the game?
You said we were "virtual signaling" and should vote for politicians you supported instead. I guess the players should do that also? In a nutshell. So..UF should not wear uniforms to support the military in the future? Personally, I don't like it, because I like our school colors. But... I don't see why a military vet would be opposed to it. Because we didn't win? I am confused.
Im opposed to it because it’s silly. I’m opposed to it because we were going to do this black uniform silliness, “support the troops” or not. They just added that to try to appease the masses just a bit more, because everyone loves to support the troops! I enjoyed mocking programs that did this sort of thing, and now we are them. It’s dumb. It rings completely hollow. This sort of thing isn’t limited to UF and this silly jersey debacle, but this is the UF silly uniform debacle thread, is it not?
Don’t mind representing the armed forces for Veterans Day, but uniform gimmicks (like going all black) are for losers. I remember well how we used to make fun of Georgia for substituting uniform gimmicks for on-field performance. And now we’re doing the same thing. Black is not even one of our colors.
Not entirely. The "silly uniform" thing was supposed to honor the military--active and vets. I don't like the "silly uniform" thing at all; I think we should just wear our traditional uniforms. But if active military and vets don't like it, then we shouldn't do it, particularly if military personnel find it offensive. I am pretty sure a few emails directed to Stricklin, from active military or vets, expressing their displeasure with this, might have an impact on such future undertakings. Send one; you will get no traction posting your thoughts on this board. Oh.. and I respect your service.
As a vet myself the only thing citizens of the United States have to do to appreciate the military is live their lives the way they want and enjoy the freedom to do so. Personally I'm a fan of Gator football because of the university and think the team should wear uniforms that represent the university rather than random colors because it's cool. Inb4 Ok boomer
