(SB) UF vs Kentucky March 23, 2024 3 PM

The team had a bonding outing last week. Kendra says that never happened in her first 2 years.
This team has bought in, and love and support each other.

 

Mia's improvement has come with her wearing glasses. Evidently, she needed them, and they have made a difference.

 

It’s crazy how long some kids go without knowing they can’t see. I wonder if Mia drives. My wife learned she couldn’t see while taking the eye exam for her license at 16. She’s almost blind without glasses. No idea how she made it to 16 without corrective lenses.

 

Good info -- that said, they are not exactly a puff team, having been ranked just last week in D1 Softball's Top 25. Maybe not great, but these are some good wins we are getting.

This is the type of problem you want to have. Too many good players.

It wasn't too long ago that once the batting order reached about the five or six hole, you just waited for the outs so that we could get to the top of the order again and have a good chance of getting hits.

 

Impressive weekend so far. 2 run rules vs a ranked team. Defense was stellar today also.

 

If we're being honest after the 3 spot was iffy for awhile.

 

They usually have an outing late August. They call it “team bonding”, but it is more like a “getting to know you” event. Anyway. I think it is great to schedule these types of excursions. Having the women coaches on board is a no-brainer. Should have happened seasons ago. Also, this is the smallest roster Walton has had to manage in awhile. Less players equal less egos. Plus, the older players seem to be great leaders and mentors.

 

Patrick Murphy took the whole team to Europe last summer to bond. How did that work out.

 

I'm guessing all those ladies now have some great memories of Europe. Sounds like a great recruiting tool, esp for kids that have never been, which is most of them.
