He wouldn’t eligible to play anywhere else this season academically even if he got a waiver to play. Can’t switch teams mid semester. Seems like a waste to just sit out.

    Methinks you’re taking a wild-assed guess.

Thinking the same thing . Always bs .. volleyball and gymnastics also get the injury crap. Is there enough players to even have a woman Bb team

My guess is that it has nothing to do with the competition. That doesn’t mean he will come back to the team.

I tend to agree. Until we get more info, I'll just take a wait-and-see approach. For now, he's on the team until he is not.

Just hope he's ok. All speculation of roles aside.

He just moved from Connecticut to Gainesville. No telling what kind of support system he left behind. So many things could be “personal issue”. Family troubles, girlfriend troubles, stress of adjusting. Got to think UF basketball is another level of expectation from the Ivy League..
The young man needs some space and time. Let’s give it to him without too much speculation.

My take: Handlogten and Samuel, both backed up by Condon.

Do any of those 3 have good range on their jump shots?

Samuel wasn’t bad as a freshman and the staff has praised his shot. Condon is pretty decent, too. Could also see Haugh getting minutes there. But it’s not like Jarvis was a high volume perimeter shooter, while Golden’s system doesn’t necessarily employ a stretch four like Donovan’s spread ball screen O.

Like other great coaches, Donovan utilized what he had on hand and adjusted to their strengths and weaknesses. The two best teams we've ever had lacked a stretch four. When BD had an Eric Murphy, he utilized him as the stretch.

Sounds like Thomas Haugh might be that stretch..

Sure, but Donovan has a system and that system was designed for fours who could shoot. We had to adapt our offense with Noah and Yeguette.

With his skills, I just don't see how he would not be a major part of the gameplan. I wasn't at practice (@Nick_Marcinko is hating and hasn't sent me a press pass), but it's hard for me to imagine he just showed up looking inferior to the other guys. Maybe, though... who knows? What we all can agree on, however, is that we hope he has support for whatever he is going through and gets in a good space again.

According to his latest Instagram post, he is done with basketball for good and does not plan on coming back.
