Hope he is able to work things out/get through whatever is troubling him. There's plenty of reason to be excited about what he brings to the team this year.

Well, damn. Hope it's nothing too serious and something fixable for the young man.

Meanwhile - this program continues to live under a curse.

Hopefully it’s just a temporary thing. Hard to know with the old “personal reasons”, which could mean many things, from family issue at home to just mental health or depression. Is he leaving school to address it, or just stepping away from basketball?

As the official practices haven’t begun, hard to know what our starting lineup would have been. Maybe once he played with the new guys he figured he wasn’t the starter and that upset him? I hope that’s not it… but I did think Golden brought in a crowded front court. Figured at least one freshmen would redshirt and maybe Szymczk would get passed by the new additions. Basically 6 guys for 2 or 3 spots depending on if we are big or small. Now we are down to 4. Which is still ok depth, but basically just “normal” depth. Any more injuries or issues and we’re back to being thin.

Dang. He and Clayton are my two favorite additions. I hope all is good with EJ.

Damn. Didn’t even know. September basketball? Used to always be Oct 15.

That’ll make it harder for this player to make it back methinks, if he’s missing real practice time right out of the gate. But I guess we’ll see.

Maybe it won't interfere too much . . . but him and whatever is going on in his life are far more important and we all recognize that.

Maybe he’s struggling with the academics at UF.

Let’s all wish him well and give him time to take care of himself.

We don’t know. It certainly looked like going into the beginning of practice that Jarvis would be our best choice at the four, not only based on his performance at Yale, but based on his strength, quickness and skill set. If Jarvis ends up, leaving the program permanently because he would not have been getting material playing time, that would be no significant loss for the team. However, if he would’ve been a key cog on our team, then his leaving the program permanently will be materially harmful to the team.

good post - if the younger guys are already playing so well that EJ felt he wouldn't get enough minutes, that might end up as a positive. Hate to lose a solid vet like him though, even if he ended up being more of a depth piece.

either way though, I hope this isn't anything majorly bad going on in the kid's life and he's OK long-term.
