If they want actual seats then absolutely. If you want to look at the bright side, the sight lines would be better since there would be more height between the rows of seats.
Either way, very costly to change the risers and aisle depths in that concrete bunker, very easy and cheap at an erector set like joke shambles.

And leave the alumni side with no seats?

If it’s anything like housing, it more expensive and a lot more work to remodel than to have a new build. 400 mil does seem like not enough to fully expand on top end ideas. It’s somewhat of a best we can do with existing stadium and the money available.

If they don’t get actual seats, it’s not much of an upgrade.

Okay I hope to GOD that this new article on our stadium "renovation" is ten billion miles OFF BASE....

I would be furious if we let this happen to The Swamp. If we do what the article thinks we'll do then we will have the 3rd or 4th most seating capacity in the state of Florida. And one of the smallest seating capacity on the SEC. Unacceptable!!!!

And if the design is based off of the crappy quite OLD AZZ stadiums they mentioned in this same article, the ones they were looking into are any indication, we will in for a fight to save our stadium. People will lose their jobs. (I will lose my mind) if this article is even close to what we should expect in seating capacity to end up after they butcher our Swamp up.

70,000 people seating capacity? This article better be full of crap.

One more thing, screw the owner of the Jags and what he expects from our stadium.

Florida football's 'Swamp' is in for a massive makeover. Here's why

Well, all of the architects that are interviewed will propose taking in public opinion and having public charettes and workshops but those will have little impact on the final outcome. Unless there is a couple of big money donors, opinions of fans are not going to be listened to too much.
It will be the AD's facility committee and the architects.

So everyone should start sharpening their pitchforks.

I’m willing to bet that they will find a way to sell me four $15 cold beers without waiting in a long line and a way for me to piss them out without pissing myself. I will sit on the same cramp little bench that I sat on before.

That article offered next to nothing new. It said mid 70's, not 70k capacity. My guess is it will be closer to 80, but there will be fewer seats...that is an absolue given. And those old stadiums mentioned in the article have been updated which is what we are trying to do. What aspects of remodeled Lambeau do you dislike? You seem to be determined to just complain for complaining sake at this point

Think you need to calm down. Changes are due. At least a reduction of 10K seats are needed to accomplish the goals needed. Less people going to games, wasted space. Prices will go up. Will be a sad experience to grieve the loss, but change is here. I think what was shocking to read was the idea of a total rebuild...now that would be something!

I see it as passionate about them not screwing up the coolest football stadium in the country. I appreciate that, but don’t think it’s the end of the world if we go down to 80K IF doing so makes the place that much better. But I’d hate it too if capacity drops down into the 70s

Life Safety Code will determine how wide the aisles are required to be and how many occupants will fit in a row and thus the entire stadium. Number of occupants will then determine things like how many seats have to be accessible and how many toilets will be required for the entire stadium among other things.
Biggest issue is if the existing risers are too high those may have to be changed which is complicated and expensive in a stadium like ours.

Huh? The South end zone would replicate the North end zone and have three tiers. There would be plenty of seats for the alumni.

Where do the alumni sit now? The South end zone has two tiers. The new South end zone would have three tiers, but the middle tier would be shaded and have suites. Just like the current North end zone. They would be able to design an awning-type overhang for shade. And there could be a field level area for fans. It would allow more seating than the current South end zone. Capacity reduction would be minimized.

They sit on the entire west side of the stadium. The 50 is ground zero.
