You seemed to pass over when I said "if true" I would suggest you practice on reading comprehension in the future. And I certainly know what I'm talking about when it comes to addiction.

    It's logical. Let's hope it's true.

That makes a ton of sense and, if true, would be a huge relief.

Just throwing that stuff out there was totally inappropriate because you don't know Todd Golden or anything about his personal character. To just suggest even the possibility of him being a sex addict was stupid and immoral on your part. To take your addictions or personal knowledge of addiction and throw them on somebody else, even under the guide of "if true" was wrong. So just take lay off the insinuations, huh?

Besides, the mods have deleted your original post because it was beyond the pale. That should tell you something.

Oh, no. I'd be most distressed to learn that UF's bastion of integrity and fair-mindedness had fallen short of its journalistic obligations, and that its staff might be confronted with the consequences of that. That would be sad.

Coach's statement indicates there is an investigation.

I just re-read the org alligator story. What’s inappropriate about it?

The INDEPENDENT Florida Alligator has nothing to do with UF.

Splitting hairs, aren't you? I've read it beginning in 1978. It's always had "independent" in the name as long as I've been aware but its primary beat/focus/etc is UF, is it not? So my original point stands. IMHO, The Alligator is a second-rate rag with a bias wide enough to drive a truck through it. Crap-stirring has been their game for as long as I've known them, and always from a "certain point of view", as Obi Wan might say. So, yes, I have priors.

    Yeah, conflicting info everywhere.
One side says you can’t suspend someone, the other says he would have been suspended immediately.
One group says there wasn’t enough to proceed, Golden himself says he’s participated for the last month.
We hear it’s BS, then we hear Staples saying it’s complicated and there will be more to come.
We hear there is digital evidence, then we hear if there was the case would be over already.

bottom line is that some people are talking out their back side, some people have agendas, and some people are only hearing one side. We will know when we know. All we know for sure now is that there was an accusation by several women, and we don’t know the resolution. Everything else is speculation.

Didn’t click. Guessing he told you he knows a lot about the situation, but didn’t actually tell you anything. He’s usually super informative like that.

I think Staples tipped his hand about the preliminary findings when he said, “it says a lot that Florida said he could keep coaching.” He’s not ready to say if it’s positive or negative about the coach, because there are more clicks to gain for ad revenue.

MY OPINION ONLY: Staples says it will get messy, so I do suspect Coach may have had some inappropriate, yet legal relationship with an accuser who is possibly angry at the split.

A government employee would not be immediately suspended on an allegation. That would impede upon the rights of the accused. There would be a fact finding investigation as required by Title IX. Only if the evidence supports that the allegations would likely result in a finding consistent with the allegation would someone be suspended pending formal hearings.

    https://www.ed.gov/sites/ed/files/about/offices/list/ocr/docs/titleix-summary.pdf

False allegations do occur. I and a coworker were once accused of wild a$$ things like poisoning the individuals bottle of water with a hypodermic needle. The investigation found the individual suffered from psychological problems which lead to their dismissal.

I don't think "An Affair" would necessarily be grounds for dismissal, although it could be. Don't coaches have to sign something
akin to a "morals" clause, which in reality is a document to save the University from public embarrasment?

Personally posting, mens basketball has been an enjoyable UF sport for me to lose myself into while negotiating this crazy American life.

I hope it works out for Golden. Unless of course the charges, as currently levied, are mostly true, and if thats the case, I suspect most of Gator Basketball nation would not want his continued employment with the University.

On the other hand some sources suggest that up to 45% of American marriges experience infidelity, and, I suspect, the % is higher because those statistics are based on "admissions" - Oh Jimmy Swaggert, where art thou?

I doubt Golden is "clean" in all respects, or the accuser(s) would be facing heavy and draconian legal action if merely drumming this up from nothing.

I hate it for coach and the program and hope he survives it, well, based on the current information anyway. The detectives and the bloodhounds are on the case, much will be revealed before this is over.
