Yes I thihk there’s a lot of Gators fans pissed at him for a variety of reasons, and now blaming him for this and the behavior of other coaches too. So much of these accused actions weren’t even possible decades ago. We live in a very different world now with so many variables and unknowns

That really is interesting. Unless he didn’t do his due diligence after the accusations. What seems clear is there’s a couple women in particular that were extra pissed off with him and purposely made this public, as well as purposely making very speculative comments to make it even worse. Clearly they hate him and his staff, but what is the full story?

I totally get what you are saying, and I'm definitely a pessimist, but here's my thoughts regarding that:

    1. The way Striklin handled the Cam situation made me lose any confidence that he has good judgment when it comes to these situations. I know that he has some legal counsel guiding him as well, but he did then also and that was a failure.

    2. I wish aka would have said which coaching circles were talking about this months ago. Other basketball programs? Other sports programs at UF? Just among UF basketball coaches? For his creepy behavior to be known months prior to any official complaint being filed, makes me worried that it's even more widespread than we know.

I typically only post on Swamp Gas, but this is a massive story, potentially affecting the entire athletic department, and NBN happens to be where the thread on the topic is located.

In response, just let me point out that if you rely on your attorneys -- and you should since you have them for a reason -- they can give bad advice. You take the heat or the courtroom loss for their bad advice. Then you fire the attorney(s).

I don't think aka would come on these forums and post those type of rumors. We don't do that. As I understand, there were just some talk/gossip (among a lot involving different coaches around the country on different subjects) . . . but nothing substantive enough to report professionally and certainly not post speculatively on NBN.

That's my 2-cents. When a story is published, we discuss things then though.

It is valid to point out the timing of the announcement. By making the announcement to retain Napier and then have this news drop a day or two later, the optics are horrible. It raises all sorts of questions as to the competence of Stricklin and whether he understands PR and optics.

The complainants or their attorneys leak in order to ratchet up the pressure as they are looking for a financial bonanza. Getting the media involved is the classic way of ratcheting up the pressure.

I forget if it was mentioned here but multiple other sites claim many were not happy about Napier getting another year and someone in the UAA leaked it out. Who knows what's true. Lots of dynamics at play considering Napier is reported to be liked by many if not all. Could be total b.s. Then again we have no idea how well liked or disliked Stricklin is.

The other question would be would Stricklin keep this under wraps because of fear for his job? Common sense says the mistake is usually not a problem it's the cover up that is but given his history with two prior coaches already would common sense give in to panic and self preservation?

We know nothing about the accusations. My hope would be that since Golden wasn't under any kind of suspension, the accusations don't have a lot of veracity and the optics look worse than the truth. That's a lot of hope because right now it doesn't look good.

UF has a legal department that surely has been involved in this. Stricklin also will undoubtedly follow their advice.

If he knew about this and kept it from legal, then he has a problem. But it is unfounded speculation to think that he did that. That's just begging to be fired.

if this (destroying a married man's reputation and marriage) is all to get a financial windfall, that's pretty diabolical

Following someone on IG not a problem. As a UF employee, flirting w a student is a problem. Sending nudes is a MAJOR problem and really quite dumb and portends an even bigger character flaw.

Lots of ways to interpret this though. Claims are it was leaked BECAUSE he made the statement for Napier and someone in the program through him under the bus. Certainly could be B.S. The other angle is that an AD can't survive a failed coach AND another scandal so maybe he put the Napier endorsement out there to quell perception of the entire athletics program. Just spitballing.

Haha, thanks. Just thought I'd chime in as to why some of strangers have snuck into the gym from the football field.

Which assumes that Golden had some discoverable track record of having done this previously. If he hadn't done this previously, all the vetting in the world wouldn't have made a difference.

couldn't agree more, and have said so in my many other messages. I was specifically referring to following someone on IG.

Yes, true...which would make it even more unusual - to never have done this before then all of a sudden in his last 2 years at UF he starts following, messaging, sending nudes to and stalking "multiple" women. UF must have had one hell of an impact on him to suddenly become this alleged monster out of nowhere.
