We cant play defense for $hit against a basic offense and now we see Malzahns triple option with a 240 pound running qb that smoked us last year at Arkansas...Im sure our defensive coordinators will roll out the same formations as they do every week. Surely we will be well prepared.
Billy's last chance for a win won't come easy. UCF is 3-0 but their only quality win so far was against TCU on the road (35-34). TCU threw for over 400 yards on them while giving up 289 yards rushing to UCF.
Seems like most of them came against New Hampshire and Sam Houston. I’m pretty sure we could put up those kinds of yards against that kind of competition. That said, I know this game isn’t a gimme (there are none of those left), and Napier has a real opportunity to increase the embarrassment on this program if he, say, treats it the way he did Arkansas last year or Vanderbilt the year before. We need to actually prepare for the game this time.
I think Napier treats every game the same, and that’s part of the problem. Regardless of who we play, their strengths and weaknesses, or our talent, we trot out the same playbook, schemes, penalties and mistakes (bad angles, blown coverages, missed blocks). We are amazingly consistent- bad, but consistent. Over the last two years we got worse as the season went on, so maybe we break that trend? The only real question is can UCF beat our consistently poor play?
While we are not a good team, this is the reality and not the knee jerk reaction. UCF may be better than us, but I doubt it. This is a pretty equal game. Will UCF move the ball on us, yes, a HS team with a mobile QB probably would have some success. The Gators will still have a chance at home to win this game. Prediction: Gators 38 UCF 30 I also think F$U is winnable and with Kentucky at home there is a chance. If Tenn clobbers us by 35+ before UK, this team will probably surrender the season, so that Kentucky game is game over.
I respectfully disagree on UCF. We are not going to beat a team that runs the ball that well. They will filet our defense all day. Not to mention they’re playing for state bragging rights. We are a mini-SuperBowl for them. We couldn’t stop a team who was dead last in TOP from running the ball all day on us. We’re not beating a team that’s actually good at it.
